Michael Bay Producing Outsiders for the CW

Michael Bay to produce new drama for CW
Michael Bay to produce new drama for CW
The CW has brought on Michael Bay to produce an hourlong drama, Outsiders.

The drama will follow a quirky sociology professor with an almost savant-like expertise in subcultures. He is partnered with a young but uptight female detective and the pair solve crimes involving youths and subcultures in Los Angeles.

The network bought the script from writer Adam Glass, who was recently a writer and producer for the hit series Supernatural.

No production date has been released.

@Number1Wolverine you, me, and people like us who are tired of the procedural dramas that are rampant on TV. We wanted something different, and they have delivered, or so they hope.

@ejk1 - I watch The Walking Dead, and Supernatural. Not so much of Game Of Thrones, but i do hear things about the show. I agree with you that people have to give them a chance, but i think it's more so the networks then people. Some shows have been canceled that have had great ratings or atleast a cult following such as V, Heroes, Terminator, No Ordinary Family, and Reaper.

Alot of people thought that way about The Vampire Diaries because of Twilight, but i don't think Twilight is all that bad. Sure it's nowhere near the best thing to watch in this world, and yea it is really overrated but that just shows you that teenage girls are just like guys when they like something they can't get enough of lol.

Grimm looks like another Supernatural to me but i'm still going to give it a shot, and Once Upon A Time is good. It should have been on a weekslot, and not on a sunday. And this it just me, because i hate that Hollywood is trying to make Fairytales the new thing now like who the hell ask them too?

@Number1Wolverine Not true, you just have to find the right shows. The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, and others are viable options. The thing is, people have to give them a chance. For example, I didn't think I would like CW's The Vampire Diaries, thinking it would be Twilight for TV. Not so. It is so much more, with very complex characters and layered plots. So if one gives these "alternative" shows a chance, perhaps we will see more diversity on TV. Once Upon A Time and Grimm are two new shows that you may want to give a chance to as well (the pilot for Once Upon A Time was on ABC last night. Good story, interesting characters. Will it last? Only if enough people choose to watch).

    @ROFLitschristian - ;)

@ejk1 - I know right, but it's really the only thing on tv anyway. It's either crime cop shows, or hospital shows. And they wonder why people don't watch tv like that anymore.

@insertusernamehere - The Outsiders comic would be cool as hell to see, but i think that would work better as a animated series. Man it kills me that WB has a library of over a million comics, and all they ever come out with is girl shows.

I was thinking Outsiders as in the comic book series since it's on the CW. Could have been their replacement for Smallville. This however...is much less appealing.

This sounds like many other television shows. For example, substitute savant-like sociology professor with a crime novelist, and you have Castle. Unless there is something that can separate this from the other shows, it will come off as nothing but generic drivel.

@Number1Wolverine Yeah. You would never believe that all of those kids would make it big based on The Outsiders.

  11. Let's Go Bub!

@ROFLitschristian - Damn that's too bad, your telling me it was directed by Francis Ford Coppola and had some of the best up and incoming actors like Tom Cruise, The Karate Kid Ralph Macchio, Patrick Swayze and it still sucked. That kind of makes me want to watch it even more, just to see how all that talent got wasted.

@Number1Wolverine Well when compared to the book, everything's rushed and choppy.

@ROFLitschristian - Funny i never finished watching the whole movie, but i have to watch it just to have the knowledge of knowing why it's bad. But i remember it having a good cast, i guess it didn't help.
