Michael Bay Not in Talks to Direct Transformers 4 and 5

On Monday, it was widely reported that Paramount Pictures and Hasbro are looking to shoot Transfomers 4 and it's sequel Transformers 5 back-to-back, and that Hasbro was in talks with both executive producer Steven Spielberg and director Michael Bay to come back for the further adventures of the Autobots and Decepticons.

Last night, Michael Bay jumped on his own personal forum to offer an update, claiming that these reports are false. That he is not 'in talks' to direct Transfomers 4, and that he is instead focusing on the low budget crime thriller Pain and Gain. He is also weighing other possibilities. His only current involvement with the Transformers franchise is that he is putting the finishing touches on a 3 disc trilogy set for the home market.

Here is his direct quote.

"I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I'm looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It's a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformers trilogy."

It is still quite possible that executive producer Steven Spielberg will be involved. And there have been rumors that he could direct Transfomers 4 himself.

Transfomers 4 is in development .

Pain and Gain is in development and stars Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Rob Corddry, Anthony Mackie, Ed Harris, Bar Paly, Tony Shalhoub. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

    @themoviefanatic - Lol you know i don't mean it literally, i was just saying that i would like to see the good story of the first movie with the effects of the third. I think that would be a Transformers movie to see.

    @bawnian-dexeus - Lol.

    If Transformers 1 and 3 were one movie, not only would it not make any sense. But, it would also have a really long approximate running time.

    @themoviefanatic - True but when i look at the Transformers franschise as a hole, the 1st and 3rd one should have been one movie to me. Rise Of The Moon was lacking a really good story, but killed the special effects. The first one had a good story, but was texting out how the effects would work.

    Am I the only one who thought Transformers 3 was the best? I saw many more character points than in previous films but they didn't have their time to shine.

    You might not of liked Tranformers but I love Bumblebee as a character. The way he talked through the radio was really cool to me and his courage made him a bad ass.

    @themoviefanatic - Well story wise i would like to see them focus more on the Transformers then the humans, the first movie kind of had a balance of doing that. And then it went downhill.

    Well he has said time and again that he would be moving on and who could blame him.

    @felipe-11 he does produce a lot of crap but he usually knows whats gonna make money and what will not, altho his "sixth sense" has become a little befuddles over the past decade. There was a time when everything he touched was gold.

    After thinking it over with my other half, we have come to terms. The next trilogy or set of films can come whenever. No ruse, 5-10 years? No matter.

    @corey
    Yes, you have good point there. They should not wait too long. I would say half a decade would make sense, for there to be another Transformers movie by then. But, they should not wait any longer then that to make another Transformers movie.

    7 months agoby @themoviefanaticFlag

  26. Corey

    @themoviefanatic Nope. They'll be even worse if they are made at all. Wait, how can that fixed? Oh yeah, that's right, don't make them. Transformers 4 and 5 does not need to happen. Let the franchise breathe for a little while and let Bay have at least a half-decade or so off before he decides that he may or may not want to do another.

    Maybe Transformers 4 and 5 will be even better with Steven Spielberg being invloved in those movie, instead of Michael Bay ?
