Michael Apted Is Directing The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader

Michael Apted has been hired by Walt Disney Pictures and Walden Media to direct The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader. According to Variety, Andrew Adamson, who directed the first two films in the series, will be back for this third installment as a producer.

Ben Barnes, Georgie Henley and Skandar Keynes will all be returning for this third go-around.

The second film, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is being released sometime in 2008. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader will start principle photography in January of 2008. It is looking at a May 1st, 2009 release date.

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of The Dawn Treader was released December 10th, 2010 and stars Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes, Georgie Henley, Will Poulter, Bill Nighy, Gary Sweet, Arthur Angel, Tony Nixon. The film is directed by Michael Apted.

    I don't think a director famous for doc*mentaries is the best choice to continue the films with. Even with the big Christian overtone, The Chronicles of Narnia books are stories of fantasy and doc*mentaries are the complete opposite of that. What the hell are they thinking?

    Disney is probably in a huge rush to begin production because of it's successful predecessors and can't wait to start banking on it. I say, don't expect this to be nearly as good as the first two.
