According to Variety, Meryl Streep will be staring the film Dewey. New Line Cinema will be making the project.

The film is actually factually based. It centers on a feline and the effect that is has on a small town in Iowa.

The film is based on a book by Vicki Myron. Its full title is Dewey: The Small-Town Library Cat Who Touched the World.

Streep will play Myron. Apparently, the author worked at a library and saw for herself the effect that this cat had on everyone.

The screenplay will be written by Pamela Gray.
