Melissa Leo is in talks to board Relativity Media's The Fighter, starring opposite Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg.

According to Variety, Paramount Pictures is distributing the David. O. Russell-directed drama domestically.

Leo will play the mother of Bale and Wahlberg.

The film tells the story of Boston fighter "Irish" Mickey Ward (Wahlberg) and how he was helped to the world lightweight championship by half-brother Dicky Eklund (Bale).

Production is scheduled for the summer.

The Fighter was released December 10th, 2010 and stars Christian Bale, Mark Wahlberg, Amy Adams, Melissa Leo, Dendrie Taylor, Jack McGee, Jenna Lamia, Bianca Hunter. The film is directed by David O. Russell.
