Mel Gibson sets up a biopic of Jewish warrior Judah Maccabee at Warner Bros.
Warner Bros. is backing the project, which tells the tale of Maccabee, who, along with his father and four brothers, lead the Jewish revolt against the tyrannical Greek-Syrian army in 167 BC. It is said that Mel Gibson has the first option to direct this tale, although it is not known yet if he will take the helm. Regardless if he directs the picture or not, Mel Gibson will produce through his Icon Productions banner.
No production schedule was given for this untitled biopic as of yet.

Love him or hate him, no one can deny that Mel has one of the best acting/directing creds in the industry. Braveheart, the Passion, Apocalypto. No one is more qualified to make a Biblical time war epic. Pure talent.
