Mel Gibson takes on Machete Kills
It isn't known what character the controversial actor will play, though he will likely be one of the main villains. Michelle Williams was also mentioned as a candidate for another role, but it isn't known if she is in talks yet or not. Danny Trejo will return as the title character from the ultra-violent 2010 hit Machete, an exiled Mexican agent hired by the American government to track down an arms dealer in his home country, before the maniac can fire a rocket onto U.S. soil.
Robert Rodriguez will direct from his own screenplay. It isn't known if other Machete stars such as Robert De Niro, Michelle Rodriguez, or Lindsay Lohan (who had media troubles similar to Mel Gibson when she appeared in the original) will reprise their roles for the sequel.
No production schedule has been released. Mel Gibson will next be seen in Get the Gringo, which will be released through DirecTV and VOD formats May 1.
Machete Kills comes to theaters September 13th, 2013 and stars Danny Trejo, Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, Demián Bichir, Sofía Vergara, Charlie Sheen. The film is directed by Robert Rodriguez.

He may as well. After hearing the Esterhasz tape I'll be surprised if he gets many people to work with him.

The first film wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either! Mr. Gibson doesn't really bring anything to the table as his acting and person life have taken huge hits since the Passion of Christ. All it takes is one great movie role to prove he still has what it takes to survive in Hollywood. Instead of stringing Mr. Gibson up for the press for his personal misgivings, someone should get him some help he needed, just look at Mickey Rourke and Robert Downey Jr. to name two that hit rock bottom and came back in full force.

@tippfm32 The first movie didn't flop and this movie won't flop because they have small budgets. Yes the first movie only made 44 million dollars worldwide but the budget was 10.5 million.

I guess he really needed to lower his standards. It's too bad that he's not well, I heard he's making some bad decisions lately.

Kind of hard for De Niro to come back since he was killed if I'm not mistaken. But its Hollywood and anyone can come back.
