Mel Brooks Brings Spaceballs: The Animated Series To G4

Mel Brooks has made a deal with MGM to bring Spaceballs to TV in Spaceballs: The Animated Series.

G4 will air 13 half-hour episodes starting in the fall 2007, says The Hollywood Reporter. The animated series will follow the same storyline as the original film, spoofing well-known science-fiction movies; however it will also parody current blockbusters as well as every genre of entertainment from movies and reality TV to culture and politics.

Mel Brooks will voice two characters and has written the pilot for Spaceballs: The Animated Series.

Spaceballs was released June 24th, 1987 and stars Mel Brooks, John Candy, Rick Moranis, Bill Pullman, Daphne Zuniga, Dick Van Patten, George Wyner, Michael Winslow. The film is directed by Mel Brooks.
