Fox to replace McGowan in Red Sonja?
Director Douglas Aarniokoski has parted ways from the project as well and they are also looking for another writer to put the finishing touches on David N. White's script.
Megan Fox would play the mythical flame-haired comic-book vixen with a sword.
Red Sonja is based on the heroine created by Robert E. Howard and adapted for Marvel Comics by Roy Thomas.
In her return we find Red Sonja, a young girl risen from the ashes of tragedy to become the most feared woman warrior of all time. The mythical red-head blindly seeks vengeance on those who destroyed her family. In her path of destruction she discovers a larger purpose for her unearthly powers: to save all Hyrkania from the villainous Kulan Gath.
Red Sonja is in development . The film is directed by Simon West.

The character of Red Sonja should be offered to Evan Rachel Wood, although she is in her early twenties she is a more mature and accomplish actress than Fox, not only a beautiful natural redhead but also she can fit a more credible warrior appearance, Megan Fox has too much noticeable plastic surgery and her voice and overall demeanor won't help her in that role neither, her work in "Jennifer Body" is proof of that, Fox is only good to look good on camera and complement main characters as we saw her in transformers she is not able to take a lead role yet.
If you check out the promotional posters of Rose McGowan as Red Sonja, the movie was going to be a rip off of 300 anyway with cheap computer generated comic atmosphere background and a lot of bloody gore; the gore will be ok but as far classics go one of the best elements of these kind of movies is the locations as seen in "Conan the barbarian", at a certain level the original Red Sonja, or above all the first "Highlander" and these will remain great movies because of that cinematography. Not because Red Sonja is a comic character the whole movie has to appear like a comic, GCI should be left to improve the locations as it was done in the "Lord of the rings" trilogy or create new more convincing antagonist monsters as seen in the new feature of "cash of the titans." Let's hope that the new director get this one right.

You would be hard pressed to find a worse actress than Rose McGowan, but Nu Image/Millenium did. Megan Fox is atrocious. Casting based on sex appeal and not acting talent is a great example of one of the many problems contributing to the decline in the quality of movies, and a large part of the blame falls on moviegoers. The studios know that there are a plethora of simpletons out there who will go see this just to see Fox in a chainmail bikini. Not only is Fox a pitiful actress, but she doesn't even fit the part. She's a brunette and petite. The exact polar opposite to the character of Red Sonja.

I've seen a few films with Megan in and she's not even believable. By the time she gets acting lessons it'll be 2028. Half of these kids only want to be famous, the A Class actors must be scratching their heads and thinking, I spent ten years learning the trade properly and how did this kid get so popular. Okay, I better smile and bear it for the nice people that watch.

@The Fallen: I have to agree with your first post, I would not mind seeing Evangeline Lily in something like this.
However, back to the main subject, I think Fox could pull this off, she just needs some major acting training. And like Username said, she's gonna have to put on some pounds for this, 'cuz last time I checked Red Sonja wasn't a skinny little thing.
