Meet the Fockers with Branded Mobile Products
According to the agreement, Versaly will be responsible for creating, producing and managing the worldwide distribution of all branded mobile entertainment products based on Meet the Fockers. Mobile products will also include content from the 2000 motion picture release Meet the Parents and contain elements such as ringtones, screensavers, wallpapers, ringback tones, video clips as well as text messaging applications such as "Find-A-Theater."
"Versaly's strength in creating rich, pervasive and compelling mobile application services around premium brands makes them an ideal fit for Meet the Fockers," said Jeremy Laws, vice president of media licensing and strategy, Universal Studios Consumer Products Group. "Together we will deliver fans worldwide innovative, relevant and fun content that will let them experience the comedic ingenuity of the film on their mobile handset."
"Versaly is thrilled to be selected by Universal Studios to manage the mobile component on such an important major motion picture," said Matthew Feldman, president and CEO of Versaly Entertainment. "Our aim is to produce the most innovative and comprehensive suite of mobile products and mobile applications and to ensure the widest level of distribution so consumers all over the world have access to Meet the Fockers mobile products."
About the Film
The makers and stars behind the runaway hit of 2000, Meet the Parents, are re-united -- and joined by some formidable future in-laws -- in the follow-up comedy, Meet the Fockers.
Now that Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) is "in" with his soon-to-be in-laws, Jack (Robert De Niro) and Dina (Blythe Danner) Byrnes, it looks like smooth sailing for him and his fiancee, Pam (Teri Polo). But that's before Pam's parents meet Greg's parents, Bernie and Roz Focker (Dustin Hoffman and Barbara Streisand). The hyper-relaxed Fockers and the tightly-wound Byrneses are woefully mismatched from the start, and no matter how hard Greg and Pam try, there is just no bringing their families together -- which all adds up to a disastrously funny time of "getting to know you."
Meet the Fockers is directed by Jay Roach and produced by Jane Rosenthal, Robert De Niro and Roach. The screenplay is written by Jim Herzfeld and John Hamburg and Vince Di Meglio & Tim Rasmussen. It is executive-produced by Nancy Tenenbaum and Amy Sayres. The film is a Universal Pictures/DreamWorks Pictures co-production and is distributed domestically by Universal Pictures, with DreamWorks Pictures handling the international distribution.
Meet the Fockers was released December 22nd, 2004.
