Matthew Vaughn Is Directing Thor!

Finally, the Thor we see in the The Incredible Hulk TV series will no longer be the definitive live-action version of that character. According to Variety, Stardust director Matthew Vaughn will be bringing the Norse God to the big screen for the first time.

Vaughn was originally set to direct the third X-Men film, but bowed out for personal reasons, leaving the reigns to one very put upon Brett Ratner. If things go according to plan, Thor will go into production prior to the suspected strike that is coming our way next summer.

Marvel Studios is suspected to be using a $500 million credit facility through Merrill Lynch to fund the film. Thor may see theater screens as soon as fall of 2008.

To the comment before mine by P862008: Though he may have the looks to play Thor, I don't consider him to be much of an actor, let alone good enough to get a lead role as one of Marvel's most popular superheroes. If anyone should play Thor, its Sean Bean. He's a qualified actor and with a little beefing up, he could easily pull off Thor's appearance.

Finding a guy who looks like Thor will be hard, it will probably be a wrestler, or Karl Urban.

If he's directing, there is only one person who's going to be Thor: Jason Flemyng. You know, since they're like best friends.
