Matthew Michael Carnahan Writing World War Z

It seems a new writer has been brought on board for a new zombie film. According to Fangoria, Matthew Michael Carnahan has come aboard to rewrite World War Z.

The site spoke with Max Brooks, who penned the original graphic novel, and revealed that Carnahan, brother of director Joe Carnahan, is taking on the project. J. Michael Straczynski was previously attached to write the film.

"He's one of Hollywood's hot A-list writers, so if they went after him and paid him a mountain of gold, it definitely shows their confidence in this project," Brooks revealed on the site's radio program.

Carnahan has written such political thrillers as The Kingdom, Lions for Lambs and this year's State of Play.

World War Z comes to theaters December 21st, 2012 and stars Brad Pitt, Bryan Cranston, Matthew Fox, Mireille Enos, James Badge Dale, Elyes Gabel, Julia Levy-Boeken, David Andrews. The film is directed by Marc Forster.

    This film was orginally slated for a January 2008 release. wtf happened? I wouldn't think it too hard to adapt this one. really great book too.

    {that's weird, this is the 3rd story in a row over the past 5 minutes i've commented on that's had just 8 comments before i posted mine.}

    Hopefully it will be a good film and not make a mockery of the book.

    Ok i liked the idea of JMS writing, maybe his draft wasn't good enough, i dunno really.

    But Carnahan writing is a very big mistake since he specialises in political thrillers

    just look at the difference and the experiences between the two, JMS has more much more experience writing episodic pieces, his more better suited for a project like this

    the only way this works is if a piece from each period of the book gets taken out and developed into one long saga of a story... love the book, not to thrilled about the idea of it being ruined by a movie
