Matthew McConaughey Will Not Be Magnum P.I.

We had reported way back in early April that Matthew McConaughey was offered the role as the title character in the Magnum, P.I. film remake. It appears that won't be the case after all. MTV Movies Blog recently caught up to producer Brian Grazer, who, when asked if McConaughey will star in the remake, he simply said, "No."

"I think the idea for 'Magnum P.I.' is to find a counterpoint," Grazer added. "To not try and find the new Tom Selleck but to find someone that is just so different that you go, oh my God! That guy is Magnum?!?"

Grazer also said there was a script - which was last reported to by written by Dodgeball's Rawson Thurber - but that casting still remains a key issue.

"It's so much about casting. You have to find the actor that adds through his own personality something to the title."

We'll keep you posted on any further Magnum, P.I. remake items as soon as we get more information.

    I can not believe they offered it to him in the first place. IMO Matthew can't act and thinks everyone will not notice if he runs around without his shirt on.

    HUH??? Tom Selleck IS Magnum. Can't picture anyone else as such so what the hell does he mean by "... find someone that is just so different that you go, oh my God! That guy is Magnum?!?" Makes no f*cking sense at all.

    So... now we know McConaughey is NOT Captain America and NOT Magnum P.I. So what the f*ck is he? Oh yea.... he's Surfer Dude. Big f*cking WOW! That's really gonna resurrect his ailing career than Magnum or Captain America. hahahahaha Poor surfer dude can't get a break.
