Matthew McConaughey Is Magnum P.I.?

Entertainment Weekly has reveled that Mathew McConaughey was recently offered the role of Magnum, P.I. in an upcoming theatrical adaptation of the 80s TV show. The film will be produced through Universal Pictures.

McConaughey would play the role of a former navy seal turned reluctant island private investigator. Rumor has the breezy actor reading the script at this very moment. Rawson Thurber wrote the big screen update, which Matthew will give his word on shortly.

The film is looking at a possible 2009 release date.

    Sounds like the perfect role for him...After this, he needs to take on a film with more substance like A Time to Kill. Otherwise he'll continue to become a caricature of himself.

    Having said that, Magnum P.I. was a very cool show.

    cool. i think he may be able to take on the role. he just has to get a more detective, not treasure hunter, feel. I hope they do Hawaii some justice. I personally am sick and tired of ignorant people thinking we live in huts and surf to sku, and think e aren't civilized.
