Matthew Fox will play the villain in I, Alex Cross
We reported in February that Tyler Perry will be portraying the title character, who was previously played by Morgan Freeman in Along Came A Spider and Kiss the Girls. Edward Burns will be playing Cross' partner, Tommy Kane, while Matthew Fox will play the villain, Michael Sullivan, a killer who is stopped by Cross and who vows revenge on the detective.
Rob Cohen will direct from a script by Mark Moss, which is adapted from James Patterson novel. It is said that Rob Cohen and Mark Moss have come up with some new twists that aren't in the novel.
The project hasn't landed at a studio yet, although there are at least three that are vying for the distribution rights.

@corey I'm not saying that Tyler Perry isn't a good actor, I'm a massive fan of the Alex Cross series, in fact I'm a James Patterson fan overall.
But when I think of Alex Cross on the big screen, I think off only one man to remodernised this franchise and that is Idris Elba, he looks like Cross, and he fits Cross's onscreen presence perfectly

Sweet. @jayaottley: Perry is actually a pretty good actor if he does serious roles. As Madea...no. As a writer...no. As a director...no. But this role is right up his alley.

ha.. this looks like it is getting better and better. In the same sort of vein of RojoDiablo.. I dont think fox and burns remind me of the other so much as I thought they were the same friggin person. I do like Burns tho..despite that, this movie is gonna blow

Much rather have Freeman back over Perry! Burns & Fox remind me of each other and could play brothers in a film imo. Be good to see Fox in another bad guy role as well.
