In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Columbia Pictures president Matt Tolmach discussed the upcoming Untitled Spider-Man Reboot. Here is what he had to say:

"With great power comes great responsibility, and we have to always fall back on great storytelling," he said.

Tolmach also went on to discuss being a bit nervous about the project.

He's excited but nervous about his company's upcoming Spider-Man Reboot, which he described as "Peter Parker told differently." He promised it will look, feel and smell different from the three films starring Tobey Maguire.

"We're humbled by it," he said.

The Amazing Spider-Man comes to theaters July 3rd, 2012 and stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Martin Sheen, Denis Leary, Chris Zylka, Irrfan Khan, C. Thomas Howell. The film is directed by Marc Webb.

I'm super glad Riami walked, I don't care what his intentions were with the 3rd flick, what about the second?? It sucked too.. god do I hate Riami

How can it smell different unless we can now smell the film, man what a horrid thought. I would leave the theater after half an hour if that is the case.
These people don't care what they do, all they want is another spoiled film no wonder Raimi walked, hell I no longer care if he wants Vulture in it.

Wiseguy, It's "COULDN"T care less", not "COULD care less". If you COULD care less, it means there's still a bit of caring left in you.

If they are nervous about it then maybe they shouldnt make it. You should do a remake if you feel confident you can do it better. If not stay home. This is not a good sign, UNLESS, they try to mix it in with all the other MARVEL movies, i.e. Hulk, Iron Man, Thor, CA...Spiderman was an Avenger right?!

  7. The Narrator: The Better Man

@Vanboy, go in a corner and cry. What Raimi did was great. memorable... amazing even with his second film. However, this is another route completely, and will not try to top the first three... nor will it, because they are two totally different directions. Ergo, they are non-compatible in which is going to be on top. It's like comparing Iron Man with The Dark Knight, when each movie served a different purpose. Be more professional, and less of a whining child... or at least back it up with facts and plausible presumptions.

What I read: "We're rebooting the franchise for no good reason, we just want a "hotter" teenage boy so we get Twilight money. WTF, we didn't write that. Avian! You bastard!"

What I wanted to read: "With Avian's persuasive skills unmatched, we have decided to stop the reboot and let Sam Raimi direct Spider-man 4."

it's not that hard to reboot a Spider-Man origin story. The thing pretty much writes itself.

It's the sequels that are difficult.

The reboot will probably have Spiderman, Lizard and Carnage in a threesome.

  20. Vanboy

Spielberg, I totally agree. What they will try to do is amp up the coolness factor, "all the way to eleven" and try too hard to show us, "See we can do it without Raimi and Tobey", and it will suck big, blue, smelly donkey balls. As far as I'm concerned, it can go straight to DVD, and then be lost to time like The Ark of the Covenant, in Raiders of the Lost Ark, in that huge government warehouse of an undisclosed location. I'm done with Spiderman now. Damn it all to Hell!

  21. Tyranus

Good or bad, they can't wait a decade to reboot this because they'll lose the rights to Disney/Marvel and this being such a big franchise for Sony they aren't going to give it up just to make a quality film, its all about the money

What can you say about the spiderman Reboot. I think it was a big mistake to let Sam Rami go and Tobey Maqurie go. people don't want to no a bout spiderman collage days and that rubbish. They want to see him fighting badies who are hell bent on destroying the world, i think that Columbia pictures will learn from the mistake of letting Sam Rami, Tobey Maquire go this reboot will be a flop.
