Matt Newton being eyed for 'Anakin' in the Star Wars TV series

Movie Picture
According to Austrailian news outlet, The Herald Sun, Matt Newton may be being eyed for the role of 'Anakin Skywalker' in the proposed Star Wars TV series. Apparently director George Lucas recently checked the actor's availability for the planned 100-episode series, which is to be filmed in Sydney.

Newton was originally Lucas' second choice to play Skywalker in episodes one, two and three of the film franchise but the filmmaker settled on Hayden Christensen for the role.

Newton, son of legendary Australian TV entertainer Bert "Moonface" Newton, was even flown to California twice to meet with Lucas at the famed Skywalker Ranch in the lead-up to casting the film role. It seems the California trips may not have been in vain.
