Collider: Everyone always asks about the Bourne franchise and you've been giving the same answer that it's all about the story - which by the way, all the fans of the franchise are loving that answer - but all of us are wondering how likely is it that you guys are going to do another film?
Matt: Look, it's a question I get a lot from people on the street and I was talking to Paul (Greengrass) and he gets the question a lot too, and he said, "that's the signal that we really should do another one. People want it." Also, we love the character and we would love to do another one. For us, that means reuniting with all of our friends who made the other movies and going on another round the world adventure again. So, personally, selfishly, we'd all really like to do it, but we are really serious about trying to get the story and the script right because the only thing more disappointing than not having another one of these movies is, for us or for movie fans is would be to make one that isn't good. Because everyone would say, "they should have quit after three". And we'd feel that way too.
Collider: Well I know Universal has had people writing scripts. Have you actually read the drafts that have been coming in?
Matt: Not yet. Paul finished cutting Green Zone except for some effects. It's coming out in March. He hasn't had a break literally since he did The Bourne Supremacy - which is six years ago now. So he was like I need to take a break...so he's been on vacation for about three weeks and he's going to take a few more and then he said he'd come to New York and we'd sit down and we'd talk seriously about it.

The site is also reporting that Damon may have an opening in 2010 to shoot this new film, but that information was unconfirmed at this time.

I always like these movies. They can be a little formulaic and far-strung sometimes, but they're always fun.

Great news that we're getting a new one within the next couple of years, hopefully. I loved the first three, and agree with Chad_Vital: The second one was alright. Awesome, yes, but not as great as the other two are.
I wonder why they're still calling it the "Untitled Jason Bourne Project?" I mean, the next book in the series is "The Bourne Legacy." It would make the most sense to call it "The Bourne Legacy." I need to read those books, actually...

Its funny how you complain about the camera work but I personally have gotten used to it very easily. To each their own.
And DeadJedi, thank you for your post. I completely agree, and thats what I wanna see this time around. I want the ending not for him to be running or on the run. But finally embracing himself as Devid Webb, and no longer needing to run. And the Jackal would be great for this installment. Here's hoping they end at 4 and here's hoping it's the best one yet.

Yeah the last movie was awesome. The 2nd was alright, first was good. I'm sure they will do their best if they make another one.

Well my screenplay is focusing on Carlos & Bourne but interweaving the plots from the book into it

Jason Bourne and David Webb are two distinct personalities sharing one head. At this point, all David Webb is is a name he heard over a phone line. He hasn't reconciled the two personalities yet, so he's still Jason Bourne.
It makes more sense in the books where Jason Bourne was a fictional assassin created to draw Carlos the Jackal out of hiding. The movies haven't yet explained why he was renamed for the Treadstone program. It's just inferred that he got a codename because he worked for a black ops program.

Ok now what i really wanna know is why have they left the most important piece in this interview/article...?
Matt Damon has also stated that the 4th Bourne movie is open to all fans of the franchise, implicating and stating that if you have a great idea for it, give Universal a ring, if they like what they here, then well your in with the chance to write the 4th installment.
I've began planning one out, i'm using the original title for the 4th installment entitled
'The Bourne Eternity'

Great news. I wonder what they would name it since his name is really David Web now.

I think you greatly underestimate the importance of the handheld camera & quick cuts in the Bourne Movies. If they used anything else, it wouldn't be a bourne movie, so no sense in complaining. It gives the movie the "doc*mentary/your actually there/panic stricken" feel to it. Besides, the handheld camera work is one of Greengrass's signature style choices, no way he's gonna change, nor should he.
Looking forward to this.....if they get a good . Also looking forward to Green Zone next year!
