Matt Damon Discusses the Next Jason Bourne Film

Matt Damon claims next Bourne film is "down the road"
Matt Damon was part of the press conference today for his upcoming film Invictus and he also answered a few questions about his Untitled Jason Bourne film. We reported earlier this week that director Paul Greengrass would not direct this fourth Jason Bourne film, and it seems the series' star Matt Damon is willing to put off the film until Greengrass will direct.

I'll just wait for him and when he wants to do one, we'll do it.

While that statement certainly is bad news for the short-term future of the film, Damon believes this movie will come to fruition eventually. A reporter at the press conference asked Damon, "Are you saying it's Greengrass or no Bourne?" Here was Damon's response.

Yeah, I've always said that. But I think it will happen down the road. We just don't have a script right now.

We'll be sure to keep you posted on any new developments surrounding this Untitled Jason Bourne film as soon as we have more information.

The Bourne Legacy comes to theaters August 3rd, 2012 and stars Rachel Weisz, Jeremy Renner, Joan Allen, Albert Finney, Oscar Isaac, Edward Norton, Stacy Keach, Scott Glenn. The film is directed by Tony Gilroy.

I think Ultimatum is by far the best Bourne film, and one of the best movies of 2008. Greengrass basically reinvented the action film with that movie by putting the audience inside Jason Bourne's head.

Filming movies back to back is the worst idea ever. Examples: Matrix Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions filmed back to back also X men United and X men last Stand filmed back to back.

A Director can be replaced, but, not the main actor. When movies do that, it gets screwed up. One exception was Harrison Ford as Jack Ryan after Alec Baldwin. Look at Del Toro taking over LOTR for Peter Jackson. Who's not looking forward to that?? What I'd like to see is a new trilogy with Damon and Greengrass set in stone. They would get the financing for that, and the source material is available. Film all 3 back-to-back-to-back and put them out over 3 years.

Well all i have to say is i love how he is passionate for the series and the way it is done, And his loyalty to the director. You dont see that very often, when a actors knows no one can shoot it and tell the story the way it was to be told. First actor i saw with that kind of loyalty is Christian Bale with Nolan. would rather wait 10 years for another bourne or batman movie and have it done in my opinion right. Than someone else stepping in and screwing it up.

Bourne will never be Bond. I remember thinking it was a Bond rip off a long ass time ago when the first Bourne film came out lol. Even though the stories are way different, you can tell Bond inspired the birth of Jason Bourne, and there's nothing wrong with that. I mean, look how many movies or games got inspired by Aliens?

Yeah, exactly. The first one was good and then it got stupid, exactly right. And that's the same thing that has happen to the bourne series. the first one i disliked, but I'll give it this that it was very realistic. Never saw the second one. But the third one is so off the wall. This guy jumps through tons of windows and doesn't have a scratch on him. they should call the fourth one Bourne Another Day. Because that's all it's trying to be is another James Bond franchise which it will never be. bourne ultimatum did not have a good story. It just kept the same old dull story and uped the action.

  19. The Narrator: The Better Man

Newkill thats so far off. XXX is a crap series if you can even call it that. The first was entertaining, then it just got stupid with the sequel.

Bourne on the other hand, has always been entertaining, good stories, good acting, great locations, and crazy action scenes.

I'm with FRATSON, I admire his love of his character, and I will wait till they get it right.

By the time Greengrass is ready Damon will be in his 60's and no one will no longer care about the Bourne movies. The Bourne movies are becoming like the XXX franchise.
