Marvel's The Avengers may assemble for the small screen
The project is in very early stages at this point, with only, "a kernel of an idea" so far. It is said that there wouldn't be a direct connection between the show and director Joss Whedon's blockbuster. While the series would be set in the same Marvel universe, and feature some of the same themes, it may not feature these superhero characters.
The Avengers can also be seen in animated form on Disney XD's The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, and the upcoming Avengers Assemble.
Marvel Studios is also planning on making The Avengers 2 in 2015, after they make the stand-alone sequels Iron Man 3, Thor: The Dark World, and Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

I do not like this idea, considering that there is already an Avengers movie and there is going to be an Avengers 2 that will be coming out in 2015. So with that said, a tv show will not even be necessary.

There is no need 4 a T.V. series, the movie made a huge amount of money. Plus their already redoing the cartoon so that this cartoon looks like the movie. they doing this because how huge The Avengers r. I say they don't need this, its pointless. What they need to do is focus on the Phase 2 of Marvel Cinematic Universe which next year its started off with Iron-Man 3, which the movie set looks cool and i'm looking forward c this than that. To Marvel leave The Avengers alone focus on the upcoming movies that r coming soon to next year and once those movie s r done then ask if Joss Whedon if he would like 2 come back 2 direct The Avengers 2. just think about it, do u what 2 do this pointless idea to piss off your fans or continue on the phase 2 movies as u plan?

Why does it have to be ABC? They're just gonna turn it into a soap opera with just talk talk talk talk relationships, sex, talk talk talk, and some action.

@thedude1 You hit the nail on the head with it there. 100% agreed. They smell money, and that is all they care about in the end.

There's only a few ways this TV show is going to work at all and this if.
A) All the main actors form the film comeback and b) Joss Whedon is invlvoed in it in some way

Could work if they went with the West Coast Avengers, based in SF. Still, I'm not holding my breath.

This is a great example of what happens when someone doesn't know how to handle success.

I think it wont be good, its like recasting all the superhero roles

I feel like Marvel is really trying to push this down our throats. It's all good now but eventually people will get sick of seeing the same ol stuff. Marvel has way more it can produce than just Avengers movies and spin offs with its characters.

I'm in it. I play everyday hero "Aren't You That Guy?" Guess what my answer is? Go ahead and guess...go on. Don't have it? Here is my answer..."Yes, yes I am." Isn't that great? Wouldn't that be a great character?
On the subject of this article...it could be interesting to see what they do, but to do a television series without a big draw seems like a risky endeavor.
