The head of Marvel Studios talks about the company's upcoming films
"It's fun now, and we're introducing some new characters in [Iron Man 2]," he told the magazine. "But it's not about just cramming in lots of new people; that's sort of the cardinal sin of the sequel - adding in too many characters. This is totally Tony Stark's story. And that's gonna weave into Thor's story, and Steve Rogers' story, and it's already ingrained with Nick Fury's story and an organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D."
Feige also briefly mentioned who might be included in The Avengers film as well.
"My only concern is that when we launch a franchise--whichever character's franchise that may be--it should stand on its own two feet... So by the time The Avengers comes in 2012, it's not just a team superhero movie with a bunch of characters with powers. It's three people - four including the Hulk; five including Nick Fury - who you've seen before in other movies, coming together for the very first time."
Speaking of The Incredible Hulk, Feige revealed that there is still a possibility of a sequel, but it's much farther down the line.
"That would be post-Avengers, if it happened... I think there's a chance. It's certainly our intention to use the same actors from film to film where we can."
The next entry in the Marvel universe, Iron Man 2, stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Jon Favreau, Mickey Rourke, Sam Rockwell, Samuel L. Jackson, Scarlett Johansson, Garry Shandling, John Slattery and arrives in theaters on May 7. Jackson, Stellan Skarsgard, Joshua Dallas, Ray Stevenson, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Kat Dennings, Rene Russo, Adriana Barraza and will be released on May 6, 2011. The First Avenger: Captain America is set for released on July 22, 2011 while The Avengers is set for May 4, 2012.

Moovy,.. these movies are not exsactly in the cinema 24/7. They are at least a year off, some further down the line. Thats gives everyone plenty of time to play baseball etc. But when the movies come out, for those weekends.... you can get f*cked!

I'm already feeling overdosed by Marvel. It's starting to look like 70s and 80s Television all over again. People, take yourselves and the kids out of the movie houses and into the backyards for a game of baseball.

nothing new here, but still exciting all the same. it's great to see Marvel keeping their eye on the stories of the characters and not trying to overload them. awesome. 2012 can't come soon enough!!!

Barkx is pretty much on the dot,
the union of the AVENGERS will be to hunt/control the HULK. In the process they will come across a larger threat.
The standalone films should be able to do just that, stand ALONE. The common elements to connect the films SHOULD be simple scenes with NICK FURY or STARK that AGENT and small attachment to the story.
My concern is if they try to tie in the villains as well, that will be a risk. Overall things are looking good :)
Now if DC can get their act together they can do the same in a few years :)
my fear is if they'll also combine a few villians

Really looking forward to Marvel's slate of films! I have been reading their comics loyally for over 20 years, and it is an exciting time to see all of these great characters coming to life on the big screen.
Their game plan leading up to The Avengers movie is nothing short of amazing, and looks to be moving along really smoothly. It was great to hear Kevin Feige mention that not only will The Avengers include Iron Man, Thor & Captain America, but also confirmed not just Nick Fury, but the Hulk as well!
I think the Hulk will be used as a catalyst for getting The Avengers formed, but this will be instigated by another antagonist, the main villain, maybe Loki? Hulk is not a bad guy. He is not a villain. He is a hero, albeit one who is extremely powerful, and therefore often hunted. Stan Lee himself said the Hulk was akin to Frankenstein, a monster who wasn't a monster, just misunderstood.
So I don't think The Avengers will follow the Ultimates version, but follow the more traditional origins from the comics... And if Marvel can pull this off, The Iron Man movies, the tie-ins to The Hulk, Thor & Captain America... All leading into The Avengers... Well, let's just say this will be one very happy Merry Marching Marvelite!
Excelsior!

wow, cool, sounds extremely interesting..what i fear is that they might change the real actors when they put those charecters together,,i hope they dont do that otherwise it will be a BIG flop.wish they melt all the charecters properly from their original stories

most 'comprehensive' plan i've heard yet from Marvel. Looks like they are properly putting things into action :)
Highcaliber, it's sounds good, my only issue is 'too much too soon'. I feel spreading it out will give time to sink in the story, and learn from their mistakes(trust me they'll be plenty).

This isn't really any new info. If they're going the Ultimate Avengers route, though, we'll probably at least get GiantMan and Wasp.

Did anyone read The Hulk director Loius Leterrier's interview a couple of weeks back where he had the idea of releasing The Avengers and those specific characters in 4 movies over consecutive months one summer?
He said 4 movies, 4 different directors but all connected story wise. This would then maybe lead to the Avenger movie where all 4 of those characters are then together. They would be released one after the other and you would basically see each one in order to get the full story. He explained it better than I am in his interview...but I thought that seemed like a pretty sweet idea.

I AM FRATSON
Awesome news. Glad they are releasing details. Also glad to see Hulk will be returning on his own at some point. I believe I read somewhere that the Black Widow will be in Avengers (rumor? maybe).
THis could be a stretch, however I can honestly see the Spiderman reboot as a way to eventually work him into the Avengers sequel (which we all know will happen). I will pick back up with this idea in a few years when the time comes.

Soooo... it's just Cap, Shell-Head, and Thor plus Hulk and Fury...
No women? I'm hoping they pull Wasp into this, or at least keep Black Widow around (why wouldn't they?)
Thor lives in modern times bro, just a different dimension.

@ZanyZap Captain America is frozen somehow. At least if want to stick with the comics. Thor, MAYBE, will exist in our time as Donald Blake M.D.
HHHAAAAAAHAHA!!!!!! I WAS RIGHT! They be following the Ultimate story arc and having the HUlk be the bad guy. VICTORY IS MINE!

Who's playing Captain America? Will they give him a cameo in Iron Man 2?
... Excuse my lacking comic book knowledge, but how do they plan to tie Thor and Captain America into the picture when - if, I'm not mistaken - they live in completely different centuries? That frozen-in-the-ice trick only gets you so far...

sounds great so far, like the guy really knows what he's talking about. Especially as some other crap studio is messing up Spider Man completely - who the Hell told them a complete reboot was a good idea? Especially the way they're going about it.
