Marvel Officially Announces Iron Man 2 Production Start

Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc. has launched the production of Iron Man 2 starring Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Sam Rockwell, John Slattery, Mickey Rourke and Samuel L. Jackson. Jon Favreau will direct Iron Man 2, the sequel to Iron Man, with the screenplay by Justin Theroux. Iron Man 2 is being released in theatres domestically on May 7, 2010 and distributed worldwide by Paramount Pictures. Tele Munchen will distribute the film in Germany and Austria.

Iron Man 2 is being produced by Marvel Studios' President, Kevin Feige, and executive produced by Louis D'Esposito, Jon Favreau, Stan Lee, David Maisel, Denis Stewart and Susan Downey.

Based on Marvel's iconic Super Hero, Iron Man 2 continues the story of the 2008 summer box office blockbuster Iron Man, the first feature film to be produced independently by Marvel Studios. The first film in the franchise has grossed over a half billion dollars worldwide at the box office.

In addition to Iron Man 2, Marvel Studios is also scheduled to release a slate of films based on the Marvel characters including Thor on May 20, 2011, The First Avenger: Captain America on July 22, 2011, and The Avengers on May 4, 2012.

Iron Man 2 was released May 7th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Jon Favreau.

    I'm torqued about them switching Terrance Howard, but if they were going to replace him with anyone, I think Don Cheadle would be that person. So, while I'm a little pissed off, I've got complete faith in the movie, and will not worry about it further.

    maybe we are going to get some "Hulk" action in iron man 2 there is that scene at the end of the hulk movie so im thinking we will see some hulk in this one and then Thor will get us closer the First Avenger will be bring the story arc together and then....drum roll please......THE AVENGERS! or maybe not lol

    See... I figured that they'd do a sequel, or more to "The Incredible Hulk," and then have it so that "The First Avenger: Captain America" was the one who had ONE movie, and then got incredibly involved with "The Avengers." Besides, if I remember correctly Captain America was really anal with The Avengers and everything, wasn't he? Anyway, I'll be happy to see Ed Norton return as the big green guy either way... I was just hoping to see more Hulk villains, you know? LOLZ!!!!!
