Marvel Comics Films to Film in California If Schwarzenegger Gets Tax Breaks

Jon Favreau and Marvel Studios are willing to put their weight behind California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and his push to give Hollywood studios tax breaks for making their movies within the state. Favreau spoke to Nikki Finke at Deadline Hollywood about how Marvel is willing to commit to making Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America and The Avengers all in Hollywood.

"They're willing to make a commitment to keep all four productions here in town. They're looking for existing studio space right now," Favreau says. Those four films alone would represent over $600 million which would be spent in California, instead of being lured away to other markets offering tax incentives to film makers.

The California legislature has been resistant to providing tax incentives to studios, which has prompted numerous productions, such as ABC's Ugly Betty to leave Hollywood and film elsewhere. However, it is possible that Marvel's lobbying efforts may succeed where Schwarzenegger's alone have failed.

Iron Man 2 was released May 7th, 2010 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson, Gwyneth Paltrow, Sam Rockwell, Mickey Rourke, Samuel L. Jackson, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Jon Favreau.

Thor was released May 6th, 2011 and stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Stellan SkarsgÄrd, Kat Dennings, Clark Gregg, Idris Elba. The film is directed by Kenneth Branagh.

Captain America: The First Avenger was released July 22nd, 2011 and stars Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Sebastian Stan, Tommy Lee Jones, Hugo Weaving, Dominic Cooper, Richard Armitage, Stanley Tucci. The film is directed by Joe Johnston.

California Law Makers only need to read their Hollywood history to figure out why they are the movie capitol of the world.
It wasn't only because Southern California has beautiful weather.

I swear...F***ing Cali politics. I swaer this state has the most anal laws and taxes. It should be a no-brainer, considering that the state will probably be up in flames same time next year any ways. They could use these funds for some more fire fighters and air tankers!!!
