After an exceptionally successful collaboration on the upcoming Pain and Gain, Michael Bay has cast Academy Award-nominee Mark Wahlberg in the highly anticipated Transformers 4. The film will hit theaters June 27th, 2014. Here's what Michael Bay had to say about the news.

"Mark is awesome. We had a blast working on Pain and Gain and I'm so fired up to be back working with him. An actor of his caliber is the perfect guy to re-invigorate the franchise and carry on the Transformers legacy."

Bay will direct the next installment in the Transformers series, which begins shooting next spring. From Paramount Pictures, a division of Viacom, Inc., in association with Hasbro, the film will be produced by Don Murphy & Tom DeSanto, Lorenzo di Bonaventura and Ian Bryce, and executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Bay, Brian Goldner and Mark Vahradian.

Bay's first Transformers film was a box office sensation in 2007, opening at #1 and earning more than $700 million worldwide. His second installment Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen in 2009 grossed more than $830 million worldwide. In 2011, Transformers: Dark of the Moon was an even bigger hit worldwide, grossing more than a billion dollars to become the 5th highest grossing film of all time. To date, the franchise has earned more than $2.6 billion worldwide.

Transformers: Age of Extinction was released June 27th, 2014 and stars Nicola Peltz, Mark Wahlberg, John Goodman, T.J. Miller, Stanley Tucci, Kelsey Grammer, Sophia Myles, Jack Reynor. The film is directed by Michael Bay.

    @Fry-3000 They initially had her written into the story, then when she came to set the first week, according to Bay, she was not treating his crew with respect and by the end of that week when speaking with Spielbarg, Spielberg said to fire her. This came straight from Bay, hence they had to recast, if I remember correctly some of this is even covered in video interviews I saw somewhere but here's a link to an article on the issue

    I just wanna clear something up. Megan Fox didn't quit. She was fired.

    Spielberg instructed Bay to fire her and Bay did so, even though he was willing to overlook what she said that really made Spielberg want her fired.

    That is all. Carry on.

    @the Narrator
    Weither people like it or not. weither megan likes it or not, as well as shia, bay did help their career take off,
    Transformers was a great film even as a stand-alone its awesome!
    But because 2-3 are in the picture, it kinda blows because bay has no clue where to take this direction too. Just like tf1, this new1 will be as great but slowly part2 and maybe 3 will fail. because again.. they only think about how to start something but not really know where to go from there.
    personally i think shia & fox did wonderful in 1-2, but its understandable to drop out if something isnt good enough for you. nomatter how kool it may seem to others.
    Mark wahlberg will nail this 1 depending on wtf bay wants to give us, other wise it will prob just be a b-c film.

  28. T. King (Red Camera Man)

    @crypt: As much as I find all 3 of the films pretty decent, they should've just stopped after 3 (seeing that Michael Bay actually wanted to stop after he'd finished with the 3rd in the first place). I don't like how they're continuing on with a new cast and (maybe) different storyline with this planned installment. These films make massive money because they're action-packed, summer blockbusters for the audience to see, but I do understand why and how most people wouldn't like the "Transformers" films indeed; as for me though, I just like them for the story and special effects (of course). Oh, and the new girl in the 3rd too, seeing that she's WAY better than that dirty skank in the first 2.

  29. The Cryptkeeper: Resurrected

    Bleh, I'm surprised people are still seeing these movies. I saw one and two (which was enough for me), and of what I hear three was not all that. So why are these still making massive bank?
