Mark Ruffalo could be The Avengers' new Hulk
The original story revealed that Marvel was planning on casting an unknown actor for the role but, according to this new story, Ruffalo is in, "late-stage talks" to take on the role.

Marvel's The Avengers was released May 4th, 2012 and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Jeremy Renner, Tom Hiddleston, Clark Gregg. The film is directed by Joss Whedon.

Norton was not "perfect" for the character of Bruce Banner, and Norton is one of my favorite actors working today. The problem with these producers is that they're casting Banner all wrong. Bana, Norton, Phoenix, and Ruffalo are all great actors, but none of them resembles the character in the comics. Bruce Banner is a meek, scrawny science nerd who can't control his body. They should be casting someone like Steve Buscemi, but instead they are casting guys who are good-looking and athletic.

@Mushy and @Vanboy is it really worth canceling a film this ambitious and anticipated just because they got rid of the guy wh played your favorite Banner? Sure it's depressing news, sure I'd like him back, but I'm willing to accept whatever changes are made, so long as they choose a good actor. And yes, Spiderman 3 was terrible, but I still don't think thy should cancel the Avengers, especially after all the hard work they've done to put it together thus far.

Eric Bana should return and play Banner but I'd go with Norton or Ruffalo over Phoenix. I think Whedon will knock this one out of the park whoever he uses really. Can't wait to find out.

Yeah felipe-11, I agree with that. Especially since Norton was the best actor they could ever wish to play the role. He campaigned and really worked to realize the character, and did a damn good job!
Hey Brian, Ruffalo is good yeah, but no where near as good as you make him out to be. Norton is a way better actor than Ruffalo any day. Norton was perfect for the character and any actor they choose will be five steps down from here on.
Mushy, at this point, that would be welcome. With these super hero movies like Spiderman and now a different Banner, they can just flush it all down the toilet. I've lost interest, just for the mere fact of having to keep up with all of the changes and cry babies in the studios, upset that Spiderman 3 didn't make the green they had hoped for. A real comic fan needs to be put in charge of the changes and what gets green lit, and fans will flock to theaters. Because these CEOs don't have a freakin' clue! And frankly, I just tired of it.

Also, remembering who Billy Crudup is, I'm indecisive. On one hand, he looks the part of a nerdy scientist, plus he's played a basically indestructible character before.
But on the other hand, he was pretty boring and unimmprsssive as Dr. Manhattan.
AND on a radioactive-nightmare third hand, Dr. Manhattan wasn't supposed to show any emotion at all.
Also, as a result of spending to much time near radioactive waste, on a FOURTH hand, he did emotionless unfortunately well.

I guess Mark Ruffalo is better than Joaquin Phoenix, and it'll give him an opportunity to act in something other than chick flicks.

There are characters in the Marvel Universe who are better suited for Ruffalo (Hawkeye, Henry Pym), but I wouldn't mind seeing him end up there, even if it is as Banner. I just picture Bruce Banner as more of an awkward, scrawny scientist type. Steve Buscemi would be great, but he's not good looking enough for them to cast him in the role.

what I would like is Edward Norton back but a new Hulk design. In both of the new films (especially Incredible Hulk) I've absolutely hated the design of the Hulk. It would work so much better if we could see something of the actor in the CG character. Hopefully all of this mess will sort itself out for the best

Well superman81, they don't care because people will still go see the movies.. Hollywood get their money and thats what they care about, it's time we hit them hard, I for one am not bothering my ass going to the cinema, I'm downloading it, and i can 100% say that if people started to do what I do and not go to the cinema, hollywood would listen, but until them, it's like it or lump it sadly..
