Mark Millar teases Kick-Ass 2: Balls to the Wall fight scenes with Hit Girl
"So much prep goes into a movie and - as a novice - I'm constantly surprised how much. (Writer-director) Jeff (Wadlow) was spoken to eighteen months back, commissioned to write screenplay by (producer) Matthew (Vaughn) almost a year ago and even though we're not shooting until 10th September all the fight scenes have been worked out by the stunt teams now for several weeks.
We're all based in different countries and so most of this stuff gets viewed remotely. It means we can see costumes and set designs and so on as well as instantly view the daily castings happening in LA, Toronto and London. But the most fun is the pre-viz or pre-visualisations for the fight scenes. These are actually cut like movies and with a temp track, uncostumed stunt-people in the place of the characters and wearing wires and helmets doing the scenes we're going to love in June next year.
My favourite costume I saw this morning is The Colonel's dog. A big dog in a mask. But am torn between the Hit-Girl and Mother Russia fight and the scene with Hit-Girl fighting the super-villains on the roof of the moving van. Both are just mind-blowing. But the Mother Russia fight is going to be one of the most brutal and epic battles in cinema. Think how good Mindy is and then multiply it to 300 pounds of female muscle just pounding her and using every weapon you can imagine in the midst of that big final battle.
This looks amazing with the stunt team and a temp. Imagine what it's going to look like with the actors, Jeff's direction, Eddie (Hamilton)'s edits and a final soundtrack. I'm really, really excited. Just finishing off The Secret Service #5 today and getting back into Kick-Ass 3 tomorrow. Want to get as much work done in next 2 weeks as possible before the whole show really kicks off.

Mother Russia has yet to be cast yet, although, at the rate this cast is lining up, we should hear who is playing her in the very near future.
Kick-Ass 2 comes to theaters August 16th, 2013 and stars Chloe Moretz, Jim Carrey, Nicolas Cage, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lyndsy Fonseca, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison. The film is directed by Jeff Wadlow.

@narrator Lets look at it from this angle.... we'll both get what we want, won't we? :)

Haha, @dan1. I'm sensing a little bit of a crush here. While the character of Hit Girl is still awesome, I'm used to seeing children acting in such a manner in my own life (killing thugs and driving cars aside), as well as in Family Guy. What I'm really looking forward to, with her character, is her development. How has she grown, since she "retired" and what will force her and Kick-Ass to come back into the action. She'll be older, so the novelty of her actions will be gone, thus her character will hinge on development. Let's hope they can pull it off.
To each their own, I guess. Carrey will always be a favorite, and while I've yet to read the sequel graphic novel, I'm sure that he can easily snag some of the better scenes in the film, whether his character be deadpan/serious or quirky/awkward. It's just the amount of raw presence that the guy brings to most of his films that Moretz, talented as she may be, will likely never attain with a guy like me.

Watching a prepubescent girl kill thugs with a butterfly knife and other weapons is like Christmas. I am super stoked for Balls to the Wall. Never thought that the movie would ever actually go into production.

@dan1 She was easily the best part of the entire film. In fact, the film wouldn't have been HALF as enjoyable if she weren't in it.

Chloe grew up quite a bit since the last Kick-Ass movie. Her name should be "Tit-Girl" now.

I think it's kind of funny how people proclaim that Hit-Girl/Chloe Moretz stole the show, without ever looking into it, and realizing that she was given the best scenes, so it's a bit unfair to discard everyone else.

@narrator No, I'm pretty sure Hit Girl 2, I mean Kick Ass 2 belongs to her. Carrey might be amusing, but not on the same level.
