Mandy Patinkin Joins Zach Braff's 'Wish I Was Here'

The 'Homeland' star will play the actor-writer-director's father in this Kickstarter-funded drama.
After a successful Kickstarter campaign, writer-director-star Zach Braff has cast Mandy Patinkin in his indie drama Wish I Was Here. Take a look at the photo of both actors, released by Zach Braff on his Twitter page, then read on for more details regarding the project.

The story centers on 35-year-old Aidan (Zach Braff) an actor who is struggling to provide for his family. When his ailing father (Mandy Patinkin) can no longer afford to pay for his young children's private school, Aidan reluctantly agrees to home school them, learning a lot about himself in the process.

Zach Braff is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with his brother, Adam J. Braff. The project has met its $2 million goal, and then some, with $2.6 million in donations. There are still nine days left to donate to the project, and you can Click Here! to visit the Kickstarter page.

Wish I Was Here comes to theaters July 18th, 2014 and stars Josh Gad, Joey King, Jim Parsons, Ashley Greene, Kate Hudson, Zach Braff, Mandy Patinkin, Donald Faison. The film is directed by Zach Braff.
