Man of Steel Trailer Confirmed to Debut with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Man of Steel trailer to debut with The Hobbit on December 14th
While rumors that the first trailer for The Wolverine would premiere before the The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, in theaters on December 14th, have been shot down by that film's director, James Mangold, this morning, another director has confirmed that an even bigger trailer is confirmed for this upcoming release.

Yes, director Zack Snyder has revealed that we will get the first full-length look at his upcoming Superman adventure, Man of Steel, this holiday season, attached to prints of Peter Jackson's epic Middle Earth prequel.

Zack Snyder spoke with MTV, where he dropped this excellent bit of news, calling the Man of Steel trailer crazy and a lot of fun.

"It's fun. I can't wait for The Hobbit, so it will be fun to see our crazy Man of Steel trailer and then enjoy the The Hobbit because that's going to be great. It just feels like a fun Christmas thing to do, drag the whole family out for that action."

The director also spoke out on Michael Shannon's performance as the menacing villain Zod.

"Shannon is great, he has such great enthusiasm and dedication constantly. You can imagine that you could get actors who go, 'Oh right, it's Zod, it's not 100 percent serious,' or [you can play it] slightly with a wink, there is none of that with him. His effort is to make it realized and to understand this character and what he has to go through, so you have that on one side and you have Henry, who basically is Superman, on the other side and that dynamic.

I was just incredibly fortunate to play with those guys who really were giving all they had to bring a level of commitment to the scenes they have together so that audiences will get an opportunity to really have their heroes taken seriously. As serious as I was taking it, and I don't mean that from a depressing kind of way but from a, 'This is important and fun and needs to be given the respect that it deserves,' from that perspective it was so exciting to watch them drink the Kool-Aid of that concept and go all the way."

The Man of Steel trailer makes its premiere in cinemas December 13th at Midnight. We will have it online shortly thereafter.

Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Russell Crowe, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

BTW, I have no flipping idea what Warner Bros. is doing with Man of Steel and Justice LEague, but I read a rumor that Levitt will take the mantle as the new mantle. Sure hope it's a rumor, but whatever....I'll wait until MW posts the rumor

In that case, @bawnian-dexeus, I absolutely agree. Middle Earth and all it's properties shouldn't be associated with an online gambling game for a bunch of suits and film drones.

@avian005 Oh yeah, I looked it up right after I wrote that. It's actually 9 minutes of Star Trek 2 in IMAX though isn't it? Either way, I will see both the IMAX and HFR version of the Hobbit at least once. Can't wait to see both Star Trek & Man of Steel trailers too! :)

@ridgl I meant with the trailers for Star Trek 2 and Man of Steel the Hobbit is going to be a awesome experience. The trailers are just the icing on the cake.

@gumperman About a week ago. The first seven minutes of Star Trek 2 will be an IMAX exclusive for the Hobbit. where the first trailer will be shown in front of regular screenings for the Hobbit.

@narrator Mostly that they believe WB has overstepped their boundaries with the licensing agreement/granted rights to all the Tolkein content, they feel that the gambling game degrades and insults his life work

  20. the Narrator

Many trailers use scores and tracks from other films, @jonspidey07. The Man of Steel teaser used the "Fall of Gandalf" theme because Zimmer had only just signed on as a composer. Of course he wouldn't have a piece ready for them to use by the time editing came into play. On top of that, they didn't use any of the original Superman film's score because they wanted to both keep the trailer ambiguous, and still be their own thing without relying on the old films at all. I thought the music was well placed. It practically made the teaser what it was. I agree, however, that this film could go either way even after we see an awesome trailer.

finally! who knows just like Spider-Man 3 if it will be the Comic-Con trailer or a completely different one
hope they use actual music they composed and not ripping off another movie's score

  22. ridgl

@avian005 don't you mean that "the trailers before The Hobbit are going to be awesome"? When you watch the movie on bluray years from now, you're not gonna talk about how great the Star Trek trailer was.
