@bawnian-dexeus yes. It starred Tom Hanks, Paul Newman, Daniel Craig, and Jude Law. From 2004, unless I'm mistaken.

@ejk1 Well said as always. On the other hand, that movie Road to Perdition...any good?

@crudmuster "DC isn't any better, relying solely on it's "Top 3" superheroes to bring home the bacon..."

Not really, considering they have pretty much ignored Wonder Woman, who is part of that "Top 3" you speak of (Green Lantern is 4).

@filmbitch I don't know, I think blaming the comic book/graphic novel genre, which has given us gems like TDK, Spider-Man 2, Sin City, Road To Perdition, and V For Vendetta, is nothing more than scapegoating. Twenty years ago, when the only comic book character getting any time on the silver screen was Batman, we were still subjected to garbage--Pauley Shore "comedies," Steven Seagal action turds, etc. What Hollywood needs to do is 1) stop remaking the classics, 2) recognize the difference between a good script and a bad script, and 3) in regards to possible franchises like cbm's, films based on toy's/boardgames, and the like, studios need to recognize what could make a great story, and what would not. Not everything needs to be like Nolan's Batman, but they need to be good and worthy. The best thing about Sherlock Holmes's success in 2009 was that Guy Ritchie shelved his plans for a Lobo film (I know you don't know Lobo, but trust me, it's not a film worth making). Lobo is not worthy at all. Daredevil on the otherhand, is completely worthy and if given the right storyline could be just as dark, gritty, and good as Nolan's Batman. That goes for many comic book films. If they were all great then no one would be complaining about how they have saturated the market, but there admittedly have been some duds. But we can say that about many respectable franchises, unless of course one happens to think Terminator 3, Salvation, Rocky 5, Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls, and even The Godfather 3 are on par with their predecessors.

No sh*t. Marvel is the McDonalds of the comic-book craze, oversaturating the market with so-so products in order to achieve it's ultimate goal: A team-up movie! Every product feels as though it's rushed, each films' climax awaiting other superheroes...
DC isn't any better, relying solely on it's "Top 3" superheroes to bring home the bacon... Remake after remake after remake, it is spinning out of control...

@ejk1 I know they are popular and that is why they keep getting made but that is why America makes a lot of crap cinema and I know we are much better than that. If we made even 25% less of the total crap waste of film movies we make in a year, probably 50 worthwhile projects could be made. Now wouldn't that be a Superhero's fete.

I think it's about damn time that Superman/Clark finally learns how to put his underwear on the inside of his trousers, not out (must be an alien thing). Also, let us not judge whatever this project is until we see the final result... It's about a good STORY, people, the STORY (which we know nothing about). Might suck, might be great, only time will tell.

100% agree with the @thajackal about the suit. I really wanted to like it, but can't bring myself to. The cape looks like a bed sheet, and I think they could have been more creative with the mid section of the suit. Some red without adding the trunks would have been cool, without it, just doesn't look right. And enough with the amateur from Smallville...seriously!

@thajackal -- Yet again, someone is basing a films' potential based on pictures. Watch the trailer, and then you can feel more than free to judge - albeit, not all the time does that determine a films' fate. "Fast Five" and "Rise of The Planet of The Apes" are prime examples.

No, it's just too soon for actual images from the movie, that are not set images from the movie. Normally, i would expect to see set images from a movie, before seeing any regular images from a movie being released.

  15. The Real Lex Luthor

No glasses, and a flannel shirt? If they were going to remake Smallville might as well have used the real Superman for this generation in Tom Welling, and not this guy who just doesn't look the part IMO.

The new Superman suit sucks more then the Singerman suit also... This movie will be an epic fail.
