Hans Zimmer will compose the score for Man of Steel
Hans Zimmer is best known for his collaborations with Christopher Nolan, performing the score for his Batman trilogy Batman Begins, The Dark Knight Rises, and the upcoming The Dark Knight Rises. He also won an Oscar for the director's Best Picture nominee Inception.
Director Zack Snyder has previously used Tyler Bates for all of his live-action projects: Dawn Of The Dead, 300, Watchmen, and Sucker Punch.
John Williams composed the iconic theme for Richard Donner's Superman. Back in 2010, Hans Zimmer spoke about the 'thankless task' of composing a new Superman score, following in John Williams' footsepts.
"That happens to be one of his greatest themes. So no. And I'm not thinking of rewriting Beethoven's ninth either. It just sounds like a thankless task, you know? So that's unequivocally a no."
It isn't known what him change his mind at this time, but it's clear that the score is in very capable hands.
Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Russell Crowe, Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Michael Shannon, Laurence Fishburne, Christopher Meloni. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

Daveactor, he gives a lot of his scores to other people. Has for years. That's how a bunch of, then, unknown composers got their start. And Nolan is involved with this. He is Nolan's boy. Zimmer will go where Nolan goes. And to compare Horner to Zimmer... Not even a close competition... Horner's score to Braveheart, sounds almost exactly like Jupiter... Same chord progression and all... just saying.. I'm very excited for this! Hopefully we will finally see a Superman anything done correctly!!!

I like this.....but like James Horner composing the new Spider man, when it was magnificently done by Danny Elfman (not so good so far from what I hear) I think the same will be said for this film. John Williams is a film composing magician and Superman is one of his greatest and unforgettable achievements. I like Zimmer but I just don't like how he tries to do ALOT of films that don't even need his work in them

Great If not the best Hans Zimmer is definitely one of the best Movie Composers of all time. His musical score made The Dark Knight and Inception sound extraordinarily epic. While I was still anticipating Man of Steel, I never was really a huge Superman fan, I just always thought he seemed to plain and the story was to light. I actually thought other Superhero mythologies were better, but I still respect that Superman paved the way. Anyways, I'm even more excited for it, Hans score will add an even more darker approach, Superman being darker could be better.

Regarding the highly anticipated first Man of Steel trailer, an insider has told us that it will be attached to Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises.
So we may see a taste of footage at the Comic Con, July 12-15th, followed by the first Man of Steel trailer on July 20th.

Fantastic. I'm a fan of Tyler Bates, and I think he's and underrated talent, but Zimmer is likely the proper man for this type of project. I can only hope that he finds his own unique niche when composing this score, rather than trying to pay homage to William's score too earnestly.

@Micah-Collison Hans Zimmer got robbed at the Oscars! He should have definitely won for Inception! One of the most haunting melody's I've ever heard in the cinemas! Let's just hope his score for Superman is just as good if not better then his previous work alla' the Dark Knight Trilogy.
