Russell Crowe is Jor-El in Man of Steel
Jor-El is the biological father of Clark Kent/Superman (Henry Cavill), a role previously portrayed by Marlon Brando in Richard Donner's original Superman in 1978. Warner Bros. had no comment on Russell Crowe's casting, and it isn't known how far along the actor and studio are into the negotiations.
It is believed that the last major role left to be cast in Man of Steel is Superman's biological mother, Lara. It isn't known how large the Jor-El or Lara roles will be in Man of Steel.
Zack Snyder is directing from a screenplay by David S. Goyer, who developed the story with Christopher Nolan. Production is slated to begin next month.
Man of Steel comes to theaters June 14th, 2013 and stars Henry Cavill, Diane Lane, Kevin Costner, Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Shannon, Russell Crowe, Julia Ormond. The film is directed by Zack Snyder.

@dan1 I think the point @Jeff-Shepherd-Jr was trying to make was that Crowe shares a striking resemblance to Brando's Jor-El rather than something new or fresh (which this movie is supposedly going for), which I've already mentioned to you. So them not being able to separate this from the Donnerverse and casting Crowe is my only fear about this casting decision.
Crowe is great, obviously. But him as a reincarnation of Brando Jor-El, however, would not be so great.

Toxic
But, I guess this film has fail written all over it anyway.

Toxic
Sean Connery would have been a better fit for Jor-El!!

ADDICTION NON-FATAL
No doubt Daniel Day-Lewis would have been Jor El had he not been busy filming Steven Spielberg's "Lincoln".

Wow. Just...wow. Christopher Lloyd, huh? That's...wow. Umm, doyou remember that South Park episode where Cartman found those people who had butts where their faces are supposed to be? And he thought that he found something so funny that it broke his ability to laugh or something like that? Christopher Lloyd as Lex...suddenly, everything else seems a little less funny. Thanks, @truvision82 you just broke my funny :(

Well as the Crowe flies, so shall Kal-El. So far some strange choices for casting buy Zack Snyder is one of the best visual directors out there. It can't be any worse than Singer's version.

@truvision82 LOL wtf are you on?!?! First of all Superman is Samoan. Rock therefore would not work. Even if we are thinking "outside the box". As for Lois Lane - do you even have a clue who Amy Adams is? GREAT casting call. Aniston would have done a terrible job as Lane. She can pull off the look, but thats it. Granted if we are basing it solely off looks why not cast every actress in Hollywood. And Christopher Lloyd as Lex....we dont want a Lex who is 80 bro...thanks for the laugh this morning bahahaha

seriously, The Rock would be a great superman He has the look. If we are gonna do a reboot, might as well do it right. I agree that the Lois Lane they picked was bad also, it should of been jennifer aniston.
