Paramount Pictures has given the green light to director Doug Liman's sci-fi tale Luna. We first reported on this project back in March, when Doug Liman was trying to attach cast members to secure a start date.

Simon Kinberg wrote the latest draft of the screenplay, which was originally written by Doug Liman and John Hamburg when the project was in development at DreamWorks. The story centers on a group of renegade scientists who build a space craft to try and steal a mysterious energy source from the moon.

Casting is currently under way, with names such as Bradley Cooper, Chris Evans, and Andrew Garfield mentioned as contenders for the male lead. Our report from March indicated that Emile Hirsch and Chris Pine are also in contention, although it is not clear if those actors are still in the mix.

Doug Liman will direct from Simon Kinberg's script, with Allison Shearmur producing alongside Doug Liman and Simon Kinberg.

It isn't known when production will start on Luna yet.

Luna was released in 2011. The film is directed by Doug Liman.
