Luke Ford Set to Star in Third Mummy Film
Ford is set to play Alex O'Connell, who follows his father into China and the Himalayas. There they encounter a terrifying new zombie who can shape-shift at will. The story will set Alex O'Conner's character up for his own adventures.
Basically, Luke Ford will be carrying the franchise. As Cohen tells it, "We may spin off into a complete father-son direction with Brendan, but by getting an actor who is in his 20s and not a teenager, we can also put the future on his shoulders. He tested against four much more established actors, and he was magic when he read with Brendan."
Jet Li has already been announced as the new Mummy alongside Michelle Yeoh, who has been cast as a wizard. The studio has not yet found a replacement for actress Rachel Weisz. She declined to reprise her role as Evelyn Carnahan O'Connell, Alex's mom.
This third Mummy installment, which does not yet have a title, will begin shooting in Montreal on July 27th. Look for it to hit theaters in July of 2008.
The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was released August 1st, 2008 and stars Brendan Fraser, Jet Li, Maria Bello, John Hannah, Michelle Yeoh, Luke Ford, Isabella Leong, Anthony Wong Chau-Sang. The film is directed by Rob Cohen.

i thought the first two films were great i loved them and have been hoping for years they would make a sequel but its been ruined without rachel weisz to play evelyn i think all this above sounds great but i would rather they would kill rachel weiszs' character off rather than get a different actress to play her role and im sayin this even though her character is my favourite. i say no weisz no eve.

I'm sorry, but Rob Cohen is just awful. The reason why the first two were entertaining was because Stephen Sommers was a horror movie fanatic and this was sort of an homage to those Universal Horror Classics. I enjoyed the first two as fun adventure flicks, but Rob Cohen will most likely turn out a horrible film.
