Luke Cage movie may be casting
"Speaking of Luke Cage, a.k.a. Power Man, I hear that there's more talk underway about putting the urban hero into his own film and that a notable Hollywood star is now having (very) preliminary talks with Marvel Studios about the property and its potential."
Tyrese Gibson has long been in talks to portray this title character, but it wasn't clear if Gibson is still in contention for the role or if they're looking at someone else for the role. We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further information on this film as soon as we have more information.
Luke Cage is in development . The film is directed by John Singleton.

I believe that actor Terry Crew would be the BEST Luke Cage. Tyrese Gibson is not a good enough actor to play the role. Plus he is too small. I pray that they do not do a cheesy movie but an intense one, you know, something that Marvel could be proud of. Please make it better than any of the Punisher movies. Terry Crew is the man.

Gibson's been saying forever that he's already been cast in this movie. They were just talking about it a week ago on the IGN movies podcast. It's just in development hell from what I understand.

Crews wouldn't be bad but he needs more work on his dramatic skills. We'll see how he handles action after "Expendables." My choice is Michael Jai White (just make the fighting a mix of street brawling and MMA). CCollette93 called it.

@fallen - agreed. Black Panther needs to be made, and Hounsou is the only actor that can play that role. Last I heard it was gonna be animated on BET - i hope thats dead, I want to see him in live action.

@Dr. Carter, quite a few of us on this site think he'd make the perfect Stewart, but GL is already being made, and I don't think we'll see Stewart for a while if ever, so for now, I can see Elba being Cage successfully. As for Jai White, he can not carry a movie like this. Even at his best it will end up being cheesy just seeing him indestructible.
Also, another black hero that takes presidence to Cage and that's Black Panther. Where is the news on that? We haven't got an update in some time. Last I heard that dude from Lost and G.I. Joe was in talks to play him, but let's face it Djimon Hounsou would make the perfect black panther.

Idris Elba would be a good choice but I just can't see him as Luje Cage. I rather see him as Green Lantern John Stewart. But I also think White would be the best choice because he is a known for his martial arts and he does look the part.I just don't think he can hold a movie by himself at least at this extent.

Kimbo Slice... lol.. Just a idea.. Well I am on board for a Cage film. Small scale would work here. But look at other small scale super hero films that sucked, Kazam and Man of Steel. Both ironicaly had Shaq in them....

If they're really going ahead with smaller scale heroes and on the go for Cage it would be nice to have something leading to an Iron Fist movie(they were up for it with Ray Park I believe) ...I dunno maybe vaguely like they did for cap's shied in IM1 or directly leading to that at the end like the joker card in begins...it'd be fun seeing these smaller franchises sorta connecting as well, not just the big time Avengers thing.
