George Lucas seems to have no interest in the format war.

In a story from DVDTown, it looks like none of the Star Wars movies will be released in HD-DVD or Blu-ray disc.

There had been some talk that this might happen even though George Lucas has already stated that he doesn't think one format is going to emerge as the dominant one. Rather, Lucas feels that ultimately downloads are where the home video industry is headed.

Also, John Singh, Lucasfilm Ltd. spokesperson recently told PC World, "Lucasfilm Ltd. has no plans to release any of the Star Wars movies on Blu-ray or HD DVD. Listings on Amazon.com or any other Web site are purely speculative and erroneous."

Many thought that they would never see the original three films in the trilogy on DVD. However, Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope, Star Wars Episode V: Empire Strikes Back and Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi all came out on DVD; albeit as bonus features on the reworked versions of those original films.

Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi was released May 25th, 1983 and stars Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Billy Dee Williams, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Sebastian Shaw, Ian McDiarmid. The film is directed by Richard Marquand.
