Louis Leterrier Directing Clash of the Titans Remake

Warner Bros. has set Louis Leterrier (The Incredible Hulk) to direct their remake of Clash of the Titans, with script by Lawrence Kasdan.

According to Variety, Warner has essentially greenlit Clash of the Titans right after landing Leterrier.

In Clash of the Titans, Perseus, the son of Zeus, must overcome a series of obstacles to save his beloved Princess Andromeda, including cutting off the serpent-tressed head of Medusa, who can turn a man to stone with a single glance.

The original 1981 Clash of the Titans starred Harry Hamlin as Perseus and Laurence Olivier as Zeus but is best remembered for Ray Harryhausen's visual effects that brought to life Medusa, the Kraken and other creatures.

No production date has been set.

Clash of the Titans was released April 2nd, 2010 and stars Sam Worthington, Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Flemyng, Gemma Arterton, Alexa Davalos, Tine Stapelfeldt, Mads Mikkelsen. The film is directed by Louis Leterrier.

Please get someone else to direct it. I really like Louis Leterrier's film's, but the way he displays the action, he just makes it to "over-the-top". Don't get me wrong, I love over-the-top stuff, but it just doesn't seem right in a movie about "Greek" mythology. Although the game 'God of War" had a ton of over-the-top stuff, and it still remained beleivable. But then again that was a game.

I always loved that Sir. Laurence Olivier played Zeus ....Now I wonder who could play Zeus today!?!

I agree an Up-date would be interesting as long as the new film makers stick W./the myth of Perseus which the film was based on!

It's one of those movies that deserves good visual effects... And I hope they are GOOD, not cheap. And of course the story stays true to the myths.

Love Clash of the Titans! It was a fantastic adventure back then and today. Medusa scared me as a kid.

Having said that, this movie deserves a modern remake with cutting edge effects a'la 300. Look forward to the casting news...

Clash of the Titans is a classic. Weirdly though, I do think a remake of this could be neat to see on the big screen. I pray they don't screw this up.

Great mythological story. I loved the original and was wondering how great a remake would be with today's effects. Been wondering this for like 5 years. Finally... its gonna get done. And Cell... I agree Harryhausen and Rick Baker were great in their time, but with the technology available today, the special effects can look MUCH BETTER. As long as they keep as close as they can to the original and ruin the story (plot line).

The special effects creatures were created by Ray Harryhausen in the orginial....I understand W./today's technology they could be better......but how can you better anything Ray Harryhausen did!?

Ray Harryhausen & Rick Baker were the Gods of S/E and creature design!
