Helena Bonham Carter in talks to star in Lone Ranger
Helena Bonham Carter will play a brothel owner if her deal closes, while Dwight Yoakam will play Butch Cavendish, the primary villain and leader of the Cavendish gang who Lone Ranger (Armie Hammer) and Tonto (Johnny Depp) square off with. James Badge Dale will portray Dan Reid, the leader of the Texas Rangers and older brother to Armie Hammer's title character, while Barry Pepper is set for the role of Captain J. Fuller, the leader of the seventh cavalry.
Gore Verbinski is directing Lone Ranger from a screenplay by Justin Haythe. Production is scheduled to start sometime this fall.
The Lone Ranger comes to theaters July 3rd, 2013 and stars Johnny Depp, Armie Hammer, Ruth Wilson, Helena Bonham Carter, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Tom Wilkinson, James Frain. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski.

As to Carter, well no kidding. Her whole career seems to revolve around being in Tim Burton's films, Depp's films, or Harry Potter. Since Potter just ended, you had to figure she'd find her way to Burton and/or Depp.

@ejk1 His name is associated with the the rest of the Texas Rangers in which he is the lone survivor. His father and brother were murdered, along with others, by Cavendish and his gang. He's the "Lone Ranger" because he's the only Ranger left...Tonto isn't a Ranger. I can see why people would question that, but let's just ignore the technical aspects and go with "it has a nice ring to it." haha
I'm looking forward to this movie now that they've got an up-and-coming young actor in the lead role with a veteran actor as the wise Tonto. I just hope it's taken seriously...Depp made comments a while back that the relationship between Tonto and LR would be comedic. LR's entire family was massacred and Tonto saved his life. It shouldn't be comedic. There can be humor among them, that's always welcome, but it shouldn't be the main focus.
As for Carter, I can see her in a role like that.
