We reported back in April that Brad Peyton signed on to re-write the screenplay and direct. Dwayne Johnson's potential involvement isn't terribly surprising, since he worked with the filmmaker on this year's Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
Roger Slifer and Keith Giffen created the DC Comics title in 1984 about an intergalactic bounty hunter. The character reached new levels of popularity in the 1990s, when he returned as a biker.
Joel Silver is attached to produce. It isn't known when this languishing project will actually start shooting, though Dwayne Johnson portraying the title character certainly does add a level of intrigue to the project. Stay tuned.
Lobo is in development . The film is directed by Brad Peyton.

@ejk1 I was gonna bring up Wonder Woman again, but I thought people might be tired of me doing that. Thanks.

Lobo before Wonder Woman...let that one sink in for a second, and then you realize why Marvel owns DC when it comes to films, except for Bats. While Marvel may not produce a home run every time out, at least they've got the lineup in the correct order.

@bawnian-dexeus I think we sent the remark about the Comedian at the same time. I think he would be amazing for Lobo!

@mcleve02 Agreed. I mean, the man can pull off the cigar with with a witty remark easily (e.g. The Comedian)

@bawnian-dexeus Jeffrey Dean Morgan would also look the part, assuming he would be able to act in something serious for a change!

@mcleve02 I remember when it was announced that the project was being considered. I instantly thought of WWE's Undertaker for the role. Of course, if he were younger, it would still be a cool idea. The Rock is a sure second

@bawnian-dexeus yes very true... I just hope this doesn't get screwed up! I've been waiting too long for Lobo!

@mcleve02 I'm just saying, they have to get smart if that's their plan. Selling The Rock as the title character will only go so far

@bawnian-dexeus This should be a r rated movie! How can Lobo be anything but?! haha

Bawnian©-Dexeus
@mcleve02 Assuming WB wants an R rated Lobo, which I doubt. If they do, than they better get smart

THE JOKER
@bawnian-dexeus True that... maybe he will shock us and actually do a good job directing this.. just hope he realizes that Lobo is basically the least kid-friendly comic book character ever...
