@brian Live chat after the release of a huge movie like TDKR or HP7 or something. Like the Sunday night of it's opening weekend so people will have a chance to watch it. A sort of place where we can share spoilers unashamedly.

Yeah! It was fun! Now we should all think of some new chats we can have surrounding various events...

This also proves that MovieWeb is alive and healthy with its community. We wouldn't have hit that number, more then double the previous live Academy Awards chat, without so much active participation.

I think 2,500 comments is pretty damn good. We did make it the All Time most commented article in a single night, let's celebrate that fact :)

No backlash from me, I liked King's Speech a lot. So long as either Speech, Swan, or TSN had won, I'd have been happy. My dream choice would have been Inception, but we all know how much the Academy hates Nolan for some reason, so I knew that was out, sadly.

Would have been nice to see True Grit win ONE of it's nominations. It was a bad ass film, after all. Still bothered by Leo trumping Steinfeld. I knew Steinfeld was a long shot, but it would have been a refreshing upset, and we probably wouldn't have gotten such a horrible acceptance speech and F-bomb had Steinfeld won instead. Big failure on the Academy's part.

Let the King's Speech backlash begin. It's a fine film, well made and well acted - but there's nothing new or particularly special about it. It's basically like a half decent, watchable BBC television drama.

Social Network was contemporary and unique. A far more worthy winner.

I think the academy members like to think they're being clever and intelligent by voting for a period Brit flick. It's Shakespeare In Love all over again!

Oh , and although Rik Baker is undeniably a God-like genius- I laughed heartily at the makeup in The Wolfman - particularly Hopkins!

Um. I actually enjoyed Franco. Not sure if you guys are aware, but he's pretty much a troll. Just, listen to his comments and think about how much it fits his personality. priceless.

  19. The Dark Knight

I thought that Franco and Halfaway were gonna do a musical piece

The Thing that i like about Nolan, other than Batman, is that he doesn't need to rely on sequels. He can do well on single originalities all on his own

At least she had a current of electricity running through her. Franco seemed to be dead weight.

@TheFireRises I agree on Franco, he was a big disappointment, but Hathaway was far from bad. She sang, had great timing with her jokes (and most of the time, the jokes were actually funny), and was very graceful when she "flubbed", totally redeeming herself.

  26. ejk1

@dan1 He's getting Scorsese'd. It looks like Nolan will have to remake a Hong Kong film in order to win an Oscar.

@TheFireRises I don't get why people think this was worse than Baldwin and Martin..?

  28. Dan

@ejk1 @bawnian-dexeus I know, the way they treat Nolan like dog sh*t when it comes to the Academy. Who did he rub the wrong way? I'd really like to know, because he doesn't deserve the amount of snubbing he gets. I'm not saying the guy should win everything every time he makes a movie (then the awards shows get boring with no competition), but for the obvious things (editing/directing), come the f*ck on!

    1 year agoby @dan1Flag

  29. ejk1

@bawnian-dexeus well, the way they treat Nolan I'm not certain of that.

@ejk1 Well, hopefully next year they see TDKR and any other hero film as more than just a comic book film
