Lionsgate Sets Saw 5 Release Date

Despite previous rumors that Lionsgate may skip a year before releasing the fifth installment in the Saw franchise, the studio has announced that Saw V will be released on October 24, 2008.

David Hackl is attached to direct. Marcus Dunstan and Patrick Melton, who wrote Saw IV, are developing the screenplay. Nothing is known about the plot line at this point. Another rumor which was reported a few months ago, is that the studio will shoot both Saw V and Saw VI simultaneously, although this has not been substantiated.

Tobin Bell will return as Jigsaw.

Saw V is scheduled to begin shooting after the first of the new year.

Saw V was released October 24th, 2008 and stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor, Scott Patterson, Betsy Russell, Julie Benz, Meagan Good, Mark Rolston, Carlo Rota. The film is directed by David Hackl.

I'm a really big fan of the saw franchise! I absolutely love the twisted plots and how everything always comes together in the end. The amazing yet sick traps are definetly a huge bonus for all of us gore-lovers (my favorite are the angel wings) and the story always kept me wrapped so far. Although I wonder why James Whan and Leigh Whanell aren't participating in the productions anymore; they gave birth to this "baby" after all and I'm curious what kind of twists and bends they would come up with. There's one thing I'm pondering though: How are they gonna bring Jigsaw back unless they're making it a prequel? Anything else would be unrealistic. Maybe through flashbacks? Guess I'll have to wait and see

Stop whining about whether these movies should be made or not ... if they make $ for the studio, then obvioulsy there are "many" people who find them enjoyable. I'm a Star Wars fan, but I'm sure there are many in society that see me/us as loser-geeks for cherishing a hokey make-believe story and all the other elements I dig about these movies (expect for those lame Ewoks of course) ... and would argue that these movies shouldn't be made.

I love the Saw films. I agree with most that it needed to end rather than continue with sequel after sequel, but I have to disagree with everyone saying how bad the sequels are. Sure Saw 3 & 4 aren't the best movies, but they are still good movies. It's only because the original Saw was so good that the rest seem to be bad. I think Saw 4 left us with a good turning point to bring the story full circle, and although I don't expect Oscar winning movies out of Saw 5 & 6, I do expect to be entertained.

I'm not going to apologize for my passion and love of films!!! I see more films than most in a givin month, & me myself I find it a little ridiculous & pointless for the countless number of "Re-Makes" &/or "Re-Imagining" of films!!
I also find it ridiculous & pointless to keep a film series going to the point it's beaten to death like a dead horse.
Prime Examples incld: "Amittyville Horror", "Friday the 13th", "The Texas Chain Saw Massacre", & "A Nightmare on Elm Street".
I mean the worst sequel I can think of at the moment was "Jason X" or AKA "Jason in Space"! That was so bad, it was laughable!! I remember seeing an advance screening of it where 1/2 the audience laughed, & others walked out!
Have you read even what "Saw V" is about! I have, & all I do is laugh!

Here is some stuff I found on "Saw V":

    1) Saw V will not be directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, but instead by David Hackl, who was the production designer of Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV.

    2) How do you get Tobin Bell into a movie when he is is already dead?

    3) The plot details have not yet been revealed, although in an interview with IGN, Patrick Melton revealed that "Saw V" will explain what happened to Corbett, the daughter of Lynn Denlon and Jeff Reinhart, following the conclusion of Saw III that left her in danger. An interview with Tobin Bell revealed that the origins of Billy the puppet and his red tricycle would be further explained after having the story's roots planted in "Saw IV".

Greeeeaaat we find out about the red tricycle & a puppet!!! Childhood trauma!!

    POINTLESS!

lol yeah this is a new "Nightmare on Elm Street".. It's a shame cause I thought the first movie was really exciting and unique.. it had that "indie" touch too.
