Lionsgate Gets Conan the Barbarian!

An adaptation of Robert E. Howard's Conan is finally going into production at Lionsgate. According to Variety, Thomas Dean Donnelly and Joshua Oppenheimer will be writing the screenplay.

Though the film is scheduled to begin later this year, the actual production start date will depend on the outcome of the writers' strike. Nu Image/Millennium Films, who will be producing the film for Lionsgate, plan to broker a deal with the WGA similar to the ones hammered out by both United Artists and the Weinstein Company.

Nu Image/Millennium chief Avi Lerner stated, "It's a possibility, though I haven't studied it enough to make a final decision. The whole strike is stupid, in my opinion. They approached us, indirectly, to make some kind of deal, and we are looking at it."

Conan the Barbarian was released August 19th, 2011 and stars Jason Momoa, Stephen Lang, Rachel Nichols, Ron Perlman, Rose McGowan, Bob Sapp, Leo Howard, Steven O'Donnell. The film is directed by Marcus Nispel.

    Okay, I think you all need to listen. radimus wasn't the one who said "poop on your face" (can't believe I'm having this conversation), I was directing it towards rare, cuz he said it. So I think you all got mixed up on who I was saying it to, cuz I come on the site today and you guys are still arguing about radimus being a brit, when he isn't and it was rare who said that. That is something a brit would say, though, rarebloodtype.

    And I know Vin wouldn't make the best Conan, but he was the best I could think of at the moment. Now that I've thought about it, I have another guy that I don't think anyone's said-Clive Owen. He has the accent, the look, and he's badass. I know he isn't very Arnold like, but I'm thinking more of the comic, than the original movie. Ownen would just have to bulk up more. Does anybody agree with that? ANYBODY?! JUST A LITTLE?!
