Liam Neeson replaces Mel Gibson for a cameo in The Hangover 2
"I just got a call to do a one day shoot on Hangover 2 as a tattooist in Thailand, and that's all I know about it. I just laughed my leg off when I saw The Hangover, I was shooting in Berlin earlier this year and rented it on the hotel TV."
Here's the statement that was released yesterday by director Todd Phillips regarding Mel Gibson's cancelled cameo:
"I thought Mel would have been great in the movie and I had the full backing of Jeff Robinov and his team. But I realize filmmaking is a collaborative effort, and this decision ultimately did not have the full support of my entire cast and crew."
The site also reports that Liam Neeson flew out to Thailand just yesterday from his home in New York. His co-star of The A-Team, Bradley Cooper, had invited him to take part in the sequel.
The Hangover Part II was released May 26th, 2011 and stars Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, Justin Bartha, Ken Jeong, Jamie Chung, Paul Giamatti, Nick Cassavetes. The film is directed by Todd Phillips.

@WARRock You have forgotten that forgiveness is divine... Mel said some stupid things when drunk, and when in a rage with a private call to his then wife.
How many of you have not told your wife or someone something stupid when in a fight, and upset? Shame on anyone trying to pass judgment & throwing stones at Mel while living in a glass house.
I will not watch Hangover 2 not cus of the whole Mel Gibson thing but because I found the first one stupid, and not that funny to be honest... The sequel is less interesting to me, and now with this whole issue with Mel I want to see it less then before so I won't bother with it.

God knows I've said enough blasphemous and horrible things in my lifetime to earn a ticket to Hell (by your logic). There is always an opportunity for forgiveness and moving on from the past.

do you think if Mel would have made comments pertaining to Christians, Catholics, Protestants, Baptists, Etc, he would have been removed from the making of this Movie? Neeson is fine and all, but this isn't right. I think Mel would have given The Hangover2 the equivalent of Bill Murrays cameo in Zombieland: Pure ape sh*t epicness. Scratch that, more along the lines of Tom Cruise in Tropic Thunder. Think about it...
@K-Man is right. There are serious hypocrites in Hollywood. Examples: Tom Cruise, being a overly controlling/possessive husband (which is none of our business's but work with me here for arguments sake)? He gets his roles. Christian Bale? After several rants recorded, and a few blow ups made public knowledge? He's still working.
But when Mel "They-will-never-take-our-freedom!" Gibson lands a small cameo, certain people can't handle it because of his few brief DRUNKEN rants. Bullsh*t I say!
