Liam Neeson to reprise Role in Taken 2
A scheduling snafu between talent and writers has been worked through so that Liam Neeson can now team up with writer Luc Besson for a sequel to 2009's surprise global hit Taken, which sees the actor reprise his role as Bryan Mills, the retired government operative who decimated the Paris underworld to free his kidnapped daughter, portrayed by Maggie Grace.

Luc Besson has teamed up with Robert Mark Kamen on the script, while he is in talks with Olivier Megaton to direct the sequel.

Production on Taken 2 is being eyed for the end of the year, or early 2012.

Taken was released January 30th, 2009 and stars Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Leland Orser, Jon Gries, David Warshofsky, Holly Valance, Katie Cassidy, Xander Berkeley. The film is directed by Pierre Morel.

Taken 2 comes to theaters October 5th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace. The film is directed by Olivier Megaton.

Maybe the movie should be more realistic and include white people as abductor deviants this time.

@shuabert My bad, thanks for heads up. The other comedies I meant were Satisfaction with young Julia Roberts and High Spirits with Peter O'toole (Supergirl). Trivia, he did another Arthur the King and play another knight and did Delta Force with Chuck Norris and Lee Marvin who's original Dirty Dozen is being done as remake. Again he has covered a lot of ground.

I did mention Love Actually. I'm not familiar with any other comedies he's done, except action-comedies like A-Team.

I find it HIGHlarious that someone said all of Neeson's roles are the same when in the past five years he's done fantasy (Narnia, Clash of the Titans), drama (Chloe), action (Taken, Unknown), and thriller (After.Life), not to mention career high roles in films like Kinsey, Rob Roy, Schindler's List, Love Actually, and Star Wars.

Excalibur on Blu-ray. check out Liam in a supporting role playing one of King Arthur's Knights kicking ass. So he was doing this action thing a loooooong time ago. As far as action roles weren't Norris, Bronson and all old school playing the same character. God forbig they tried something different the fans would yell something crazy. Liam proved his acting skill, let him ride the wave. More Kicking Ass Damnit! PS Also in Excalibur are Gabriel Byrne and a young hot Helen Mirren. rate 9/10 with no friggin SFX/CGI crap...

Cool news, but i do wonder what they are going to do with the story. I mean, they already did the whole "kidnapping" story, so i wonder what they got under their sleeves this time around. Let's hope that it is good.

@jimthar @lane1 That's fine. But me, personally, I want to see him get back to more dramatic roles, like his Schindler role. I know he's on his action movie kick right now, and that's cool, but I await his next dramatic turn more so.

Taken was great but nothing I haven't seen many times before it. Liam needs to get as many of the action movies done now though, since he isn't getting any younger. Would like to see Besson really improve on the first movie and try to create more original material in this one, to separate it from the first film and so many others that came before it.

I loved the first one. It didn't try to dupe you into thinking that is something more than what it really was. It was about a dude kicking major ass to save his daught, end of story. I'm totally down for another. Luc Besson is one of my favorites no matter what role he's in.
