Liam Neeson Confirms Presence on The Dark Knight Rises Set

Liam Neeson confirmed to return as Ra's Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises
Back in July, an unconfirmed rumor surfaced that Liam Neeson had been spotted on The Dark Knight Rises set, filming a scene as Ra's Al Ghul.

Liam Neeson has commented on these rumors, confirming that he was on set. But it is still unclear if he was reprising his Batman Begins role for the film, or simply visiting.

Here's what he had to say below.

"I can tell you nothing about Dark Knight Rises, seriously. I was on set for maybe an hour-and-a-half and the director didn't tell me anything of what it's about. So, I'm being very honest when I say I have no idea what's going to happen."

There was speculation that Ra's Al Ghul may either appear in a flashback scene, or in present day, despite his death in Batman Begins. Back in May, aerial photos arrived from the India set, which showed us what may be the Lazarus Pits.

It still isn't known how, or if, Ra's Al Ghul fits into the story line of The Dark Knight Rises, but since he spent such a small amount of time on the set, it seems to be nothing more than a cameo appearance, if that.

The Dark Knight Rises comes to theaters July 20th, 2012 and stars Liam Neeson, Tom Hardy, Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Anne Hathaway, Gary Oldman, Aidan Gillen, Marion Cotillard. The film is directed by Christopher Nolan.

    Liam is classy and smart enough to know NOT to spoil it if Nolan wants to keep secret the fact that he's in the movie. A fact that I would call pretty likely given that we've been told Talia Al Ghul is in the film. We know a young Ras and a young Talia are in it, so it only makes sense we'll see them as adults too, probably in a flashback sequence with an older Talia and Neeson as Ras. Bringing her and the League of Shadows into the story is clearly Nolan trying to tie this world together by bringing the final film back to the first one.

    Just read the article guys. It says its mostly likely a flashback sequence. If present day, that'd be stupid.

    Chill out guys he only had a small cameo involving a scene between Bruce, Talia and Ra. It's a flashback sequence.

    He will be in it. They filmed the Lazarus pit. So there for, by flash back, or a short scene showing him being revived after thee events of Begins, will be done. No need to speculate if, but how. A hour and a half, dose not equate to much film time at all. But Enough time to have 5 mins or so of on screen time.

    @ghostman
    Yeah, maybe it is just for a flashback scene with him in it, explaining why a young Talia will show up. I'm not sure though if it will be him that explains why, but at least we'll see about that in 6 months when The Dark Knight Rises is released.

    @sean Not necessarily he said he was only on set for 90 minutes, maybe he just happened to visit while they were filming...who knows, it could be a flashback explaining why a young Talia will show up?

    Well from the teaser trailer it sounds like a new recording of Ra's explaining to Bruce to become more than just a man but a legend.

    Hmm, this is interesting. So this basically confirmes that we're going to see him in the Dark Knight Rises somehow or another.
