Universal Pictures has capitalized on Warner Bros.' decision to push their adaptation The Great Gatsby out of its Christmas 2012 release date, by shifting Les Miserables from December 14 to December 25.

Director Tom Hooper's musical would have been going up against The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey on December 14. Now it faces Django Unchained, The Guilt Trip, and Parental Guidance on Christmas Day.

In related news, Lionsgate and Summit Entertainment have decided to shuffle a few release dates of their own, pushing I, Frankenstein from February 22, 2013 to September 13, 2013. The comic book adaptation starring Aaron Eckhart now faces Sony's Battle of The Year: The Dream Team (which was also recently delayed from its original January 13, 2013 release date), and Disney's 3D re-release of The Little Mermaid.

Summit Entertainment, which is owned by Lionsgate, is putting Snitch in the February 22, 2013 release slot. It is currently the only movie scheduled for release that weekend.

Les Miserables was released December 25th, 2012 and stars Anne Hathaway, Amanda Seyfried, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe, Sacha Baron Cohen, Helena Bonham Carter, Eddie Redmayne, Samantha Barks. The film is directed by Tom Hooper.

@bawnian-dexeus Absolutely not, so long as you don't have anything to tie things up, much like @thedude-abides will probably have. And there's nothing "commanding" you to see it opening day. If I can swing it, I'd love to see this opening day... provided the theaters near me are open...

@bawnian-dexeus It should make for a great Holliday season, no doubt; I just have so many family obligations to uphold that it will undoubtedly make pulling a double feature difficult, to say the least.
