The CW looked long and hard, but they finally managed to find the girl they were searching for. According to Variety, Laura Vandervoort has just been hired to play Supergirl on the fledgling network's Smallville.

Vandervoort will appear as Clark Kent's cousin Kara, who discovers that she has the same super powers as Superman.

The actress beings shooing her first scenes next week, opposite series regular Tom Welling. She will most likely become a reoccurring character. Look for Vandervoot this fall when the series returns to television in September.
