Paramount Pictures has brought on screenwriter David Johnson (Orphan, Red Riding Hood) to adapt the graphic novel Last Man Standing.

Daniel LuVisi created the graphic novel, which is set 600 years in the future and follows a soldier who was created to help Earth win their war against Mars. He is framed by a terrorist organization for a crime he didn't commit, and, after spending nine years in prison, he sets out for vengeance against the terrorists. The graphic novel sold out in less than two hours at this year's San Diego Comic-Con.

Scott Aversano is producing Last Man Standing alongside Daniel LuVisi and executive producers Stephan Lokotsch, Russell Binder, and Peter Levin.

Kevin Eastman's Heavy Metal comic book label published the Last Man Standing graphic novel, which is being expanded into a full comic book series.

Last Man Standing comes to theaters in 2013.

@jayaottley What are you talking about? The only thing out so far is LMS Killbook of a Bounty Hunter...

And yes, Chris Pine would be perfect for the main role, he looks exactly like him plus he can pull off the same funniness the actual character has. Chris Hemsworth could also work well...

This comic is pretty awesome, I've only read the first 2 - 3 issues but i can't see the writer doing a good job with the project as @skywise has formidably mentioned and preferably maybe Matt Damon for the lead or Bradley Cooper

@bawnian-dexeus - Yeah, agreed. I'm also gonna swing by and check out the graphic novel next chance I get. This and Oblivion, if I can even find it. I want to get a visual in my mind of what the films could look like.

    @ejk1 Can't believe I missed this.

@k-man I guess it's cheaper to get him as a writer instead of someone better. Dunno why studios can't be smart on their writers.

Anywho, I'm interested and would love to purchase the novel. I like the story idea

@k-man It's not really an argument. He just got upset because he made a stupid mistake and wouldn't own up to it, which ended up putting him in a bigger hole.

@k-man, I agree, the script does make the movie, this still might be good though, Orphan was interesting

  19. K-Man

@ejk1@TheFury - I'm going to try and avoid this argument.....but just so you are clear, Frank Miller DID direct Sin City, it was by no means only Robert Rodriguez. It was a combined effort.

If either of you need proof of any kind....just look here:

@TheFury - Well, when I said they are all but screwed because they chose a crappy writer, you said "At least wait until a director is named before making your this decision."

I'm just saying that, no matter what director they get, if the script sucks.....the movie will suck, too. That's why I gave Indiana Jones and KOTCS as an example because even though they had one of the best directors in history (Steven Spielberg), the film was still bloody awful because George Lucas and David Koepp wrote a terrible, TERRIBLE script.

@TheFury Yes, it's the classic "Uh oh, I made a huge mistake, so instead of gracefully admitting I'm wrong, I'm going to insult you and deny the truth" routine. Yep, clearly you're a man of intelligence. It must be so galling for you to feel so big by picking on a girl, only to come to this thread and get completely schooled.

@ejk1 Dude, that's not freaking evidence. Someone's not watching they're weekly CSI. When you have actual evidence, with references and others than I'll give you mine. In the meantime, go suck an egg.

  28. K-Man

@TheFury - A great director can only do so much with a mediocre script (or worse, a terrible script).......just look at Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

  29. TheFury

Dude, contrary to what you've heard, Sin City was all Robert Rodriguez.

    1 year agoby @TheFuryFlag

  30. ejk1

@TheFury No, it proves that someone who did not create the work in question may not be best suited to write the screenplay for said work. Miller had no problem bringing his own work Sin City to vibrant life on the big screen, now did he?
