Las Vegas Has Been Cancelled

If you're a fan of Las Vegas, it looks like you'll have to make due with last week's episode for a lot longer. According to TV Guide, NBC has cancelled Las Vegas after five seasons.

Apparently the network was fine with just leaving Friday's episode as the series finale. The show just went through a bit of a casting switch this season, with Tom Selleck taking over as the owner of the Montecito Casino from James Caan. The move, which was intended to revitalize ratings, turned into a double-digit-drop in ratings.

It hasn't been announced what will take over the show's Friday night 10 PM ET time slot.

They can't bring back someone who doesn't want to be stuck doing the same thing for the rest of their life, especially someone like Caan who has been a feature actor his entire career and who has limited time left in that career.

I find it believable and understandable that he would want out but they could compromise and bring both he AND Cox back for periodic guest spots- for character and story development. I think the biggest reason the show tanked was that it swayed from a suspense drama to a comedy. It was like a totally different show with the same faces in the same scenes but completely different characters. It wasn't the same show. If they re-birthed it and brought back to a place where the writing was similar to the first four seasons, with dramatic guest spots starring Ed Deline, Mary Connell and Jillian Deline while KEEPING Cooper and Pyper on the roster as well- it might just give it that breath of fresh air it would take to turn it into a dramatic saga on the same scope as FRIENDS was in the sitcom genre.

I must say, I do get a kick out of seeing Tom smoking is signature cigars in every episode- not to mention almost every single scene he's in! LOL!

Oh my gosh I can't believe it! First of all bring James Caan back I love him, he is the greatest! James and the cast is what made this show! I love the adventure and the class the show had! I agree it was the dumbest move NBC ever made! The show could have sky rocketed your ratings if you wouldn't have dropped James Caan. Please NBC Bring him back and the rest of the cast to continue the journey!

Even though I'm not a fan of the show I don't think it's right to cancel a show without letting the writers wrap it up properly. I'm sure the strike was a nail in the coffin, but still. The show lasted pretty long and I'm sure fans want a decent and resolute end.

What is NBC thinking they have canceled Friday Night Lights and now Las Vegas they can at least do a follow up movie on each show to let they fans know what happens. Its just me and I know I will get some flack about what I am about to say but like I said it s just me after ER NBC does not have in other good shows every thing is going to reality based shows and i my opinion reality bites.

I live in Vegas and this show is a plague, glad its gone. My brother was an extra for one of the episodes and they had him along with about a hundred others out in the sun for around 12 hours to end up not even being seen at all. I know this is what an extra is but they could have been treated a little better than that. He said a few people actually fainted from the 110 degree heat. Good riddance. Vegas isnt that great to begin with.

I am so tired of shows that have been around multiple years being cancelled without a final episode. Deadwood tops the list for me as well as many others. I guess you can add Las Vegas to the list now.
