Will Stewart take over for Jolie?
The site reports that both the studio and director Timur Bekmambetov were interested in Stewart, who would play a new assassin in the Fraternity. It was said that, while an official offer to Stewart hasn't been made, she has met with Bekmambetov at least once.
While Jolie's character died in the original film, it was said they were looking at bringing her back in the sequel, until she reportedly pulled out of the film. It was also said that Stewart appearing in Wanted 2, "remains a slim possibility." It was said that Bekmambetov was looking to shoot the film in August, while Stewart's The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn could start filming as early as October.
We'll be sure to keep you posted on any further details regarding this sequel as soon as we have more information.
Wanted 2 is in development and stars James McAvoy.

A lot of people here, reading these comments, have clearly not seen Panic Room, or Adventureland. She CAN act. Twilight doesn't give her much room to work, and she could do better, but I have faith shes growing.

The only fight Red Mist had was at the end, and it looked amateurish. Moretz gets huge credit for doing her own stunts, but she trained with Jackie Chan to prepare. It also helped that she is very young, as it is easier for kids to adapt to things like this than adults. As far as Keanu, he had action star status before The Matrix(Point Break, Speed). You're right in saying that dedication is part of it, but you're dismissing the physical aspect of it. Look at what Tobey Maguire did to be Spider-Man. He trained really hard to meet the demands of the role. This is what is facing Stewart if she even decides to take the role. She's going to have to train a lot before she's ready, and considering how well her career is going without this, will she end up deeming this to be an unnecessary step and just phone it in? There are actresses in Hollywood that have shown great ability to meet the physical demands of action roles- Jennifer Garner and Jessica Biel are two examples. I'm just not sure that Stewart is the right choice.

ejk1, staging a great fight relies on dedication, the Director's talent of filming & edititing....for instance, look at Keanu Reeves in The Matrix..it's not like he was ever a martial artist of any discipline...he was dedicated to the role & learned staging & combat from hired experts over a course of months...or look at the brats in the new movie, "Kick Ass," through direction, dedication & filim techniques, Red Mist /Mintz Plasse (the uber geek from "Super Bad" & the little girl, Chloe/Hit Girl look like they can do the action role. Acting.

just watched twilight last night for first and only time(crap film). i can say that shes nice to look at but her acting was bugging me with her gasps and grunts and gittery words before, during and after each sentence. but you never know she might do well with this role, not much acting abilty really needed with this film.

Physically she may be beautiful AnnoyingFilmCritic, but can she stage a great fight? That, above any other attribute she may have physically, is most important. I don't have an issue with her acting ability, I just don't know if she can throw down like Jolie has repeatedly done over the years.

Wow...Ok, Jolie is the best actress to play the protagonist in Wanted2, no arguement there. However, since she's decidely bowing out because she has the power now to turn down plum roles right and left, another actress is needed to step in for the part.
Having said that, the situation is going back to the drawing board...when studio executives are considering you for the main role, to hedge their huge financial risks, whomever they want to cast on their short list has to meet their criteria - which for leading roles is: hot & can act. Kristen Stewart meets both! I'm not a Twilight fan at all and that part alone has alot of backlash & baggage as far as casting in other movie franchises. Physically, she is amazingly beautiful. As an actress, she's not Meryl Streep, but, is very good, very believable in her roles. Check her out in the underrated (due to mis-marketing) "AdventureLand" from 2009. She was considered an acting prodigy in Jodie Foster's "Flight Plan" movie. She got good reviews for her second banana role to Dakota Fanning in her last movie, "The Runaways" about the 70s Joan Jett girl band.
Remember when everyone (self included) said, what the f*ck? when Michael Keaton was cast in the 1989 Batman movie alongside Jack Nicholson? He eneded up being very good & George Clooney sucked when he played Batman later on...so, I'm just saying that Kristen Stewart ha sthe looks & chops to takeover Wanted2..easily!

I like the idea of bringing a different female character to be the antagonist, but is Stewart the right one? Does she have the physical abilities and attitude to pull off the role? I don't know, because I haven't seen her in many movies. And in the movie I saw her in, Twilight, she mostly moped around. Replacing Jolie, who, say what you want, can put one hell of a realistic ass-kicking on screen(when she beat the piss out of McAvoy), could be very tough on Stewart.

Since the film didn't follow the comic in its entirety, it wouldn't be bad. I think she's sexy enough to be given a more serious role. Stewart could play the illegitimate daughter of Sloan who wants to exact her revenge on Wesley. Or, she could be the sister Wesley never knew about... Either way it would be kind of hot.

idk why everyone hating on kristen, she not a bad actress everyone just hating cuz of twilight. She was good panic room and adventureland. She also look like she was giving a good profomace in the yellow handkerchief based off the trailer (haven't seen the actul film tho). So she has the film credits to be a good actress, even in twilight she was the few good actors in there.

honestly I can't think of anyone who could replace Angelina Jolie's role, I mean no one can be as badass and as hot in that role as she was, if they really have to find a replacement, why not start at the top instead of shooting for the bottom of the talent bucket, just saying. I mean the only films Stewart has to her name are crappy teen vampire love stories that exceed even the level of a soap opera. Angelina has quality roles in her filmography that in twenty years she can look back on and see I'm proud of this work. All Stewart can look back on so far is a short list of depressed/emo/bored shades of her own personality.
