Knight Rider Zooms Back to the Small Screen

NBC is gearing up for a new two-hour Knight Rider pilot to be directed by The Bourne Identity's Doug Liman. According to Variety, this new spin on an old classic will be heavily influenced by the "Transformers" movie.

The telefilm is scheduled to air later this season. If the TV movie is a hit, a series will follow shortly afterward. It could be on the air as early as next fall. Dave Andron is currently writing the screenplay, which will see the car shifting into different shapes and fighting off other evil shape-shifting cars.

NBC is currently looking for an automaker to serve as the exclusive auto brand for the new K.I.T.T. car. There is currently no word on whether David Hasselhoff will be guest starring on the project.

Hoff or not, the car better kick ass, something like the "Tumbler" Batmobile in Batman Begins. Built tough and looks mean. I hope the car is freaking sweet and black monster on the road. For the baddies should get Pimp my ride dudes to pimp them bad cars for every show. Let's get creative here. I would love to work on the production design for this show.

The special effects required to make it anything remotely cool are not possible on a TV show.
